Put £25 into my savings this morning - had bugeted £75 on a day out to meet a long term friend - and only spent £50 including train. Also put in some extra from not spending money on lunches at work. Got a couple of ebay items due to end tonight as well, and will get more listed :)

  • Hi Folks,

Got an email at work this morning asking for people to work at the council election in May. I've done it before so hoping to get to do it again this year. The pay is £150.40 so if I get selected that'll be a nice bonus in a few months.

Also renewed my mobile contract on Monday and managed to lower my monthly fee from £35.74 to £16.50. Also now have a handset to sell, checked a few websites and the est value I can get for it is £66.10 so I'll hopefully be able to add that in a week or two.

Quidco cashback of £2.07 so money in 'money made in 2012' account is now £7.63

Profit from the weekend's ebaying is £106 after fees etc. Very chuffed with that. When I withdraw it from paypal and transfer it into my account I'll count it then and 2 things on this week have bidders already too.

*Sigh* I think i need to bow out gracefully from this challenge! I have been doing pretty well thanks to all the suggestions on here, but have had to spend every penny on essential bills, which is pretty much the way all my savings go.. :( Will still be lurking for ideas though :) You are all doing so well, well done everyone.

Lotsaluck - don't bow out of the challenge. Keep a record of how much you've saved even if you then have to use it to pay bills. Wouldn't it feel good to look back come December and say, "I managed to save £xxx this year by doing/selling/saving blah, blah which I used to pay my bills." rather than looking back in December and feeling like you've spent, spent, spent but not saved. All those savings, however small, add up. I'm sure at some point during the year I will have to dip/dive into what I have saved to pay something, but I will still have the satisfaction of knowing that I managed to save money over the year. Does that make sense?

Don't go LotsaLuck, just think if you hadn't been on here you would have not had the money to pay those pesky bills...............and anyway who's to say in the future you might hav a bit left over for yourself. I've had to pay my credit card with mine, so your not alone :D

please do not give in Lotsofluck :( at the end of the day, if you have 'saved' £2012 in paid off bills, in does not mean to say you have failed, on the contrary, you have 'saved' yourself probably much more than £2012 in fact when you add up all the interest and charges you might get charged over the year if you had not paid off this debt then you are a winner, moreso than us with the money in the bank! I may have the money in the bank now, but if I need it in an emergency then so be it, it would still be a debt paid off. hope that makes sense xxx
Just to be part of this challenge makes everyone a winner in my eyes :)
