Just listed some books on Amazon, hopefully some of them will sell! Had varying success in past on there. If not I can get about £11 for them on webuybooks website. Off to do a few surveys now, again hopefully.

Well, I've made a bit of extra money so far this month, but not as much as I was hoping for! I've had £34.60 tax refund, £11 from Amazon, and I've found £1.10 on the floor. Oh, and £10 as a gift. But I did sell another book on Amazon today for £20, so I guess I'm on my way to my first £100.

Thanks for starting the challenge - I'm really enjoying it! I love reading about how other people are making money too!

Hi, can I just ask then are you putting that £2.50 aside in a separate account, or are you just counting it as a saving and adding it to an abstract total? I'm asking as I am actually trying to make £2012 in actual cash, so I guess if I'm going to count savings like yours I would have to put the cash in my savings account. The only problem with that being that often I have to make savings otherwise I wouldn't be able to get through the month!!

I know I'm waffling just interested in how others are approaching the challenge.

  • I traded in some book on Amazon for £1.25 worth of credit, so I've saved the equivalent as I know that as a student I'll definitely be buying from Amazon before long.
I've also sold 7 old uni books on there now since the 1st and made about £17 after postage and fees :) That's not going on my total until it's paid into my account though.
Should have around £30 from Skimlinks.com paid out at the end of the month too from affiliate commission from my blog, so that will be nice!

I'm with you aliwali - I'm only counting actual cash that I can put aside into a savings account. I'm really good at using coupons, buying things reduced or on offer etc etc. What I really need is the hard cash, so that's all I'm counting.

Im doing exactly the same thing, Im counting the physical hard cash I put into my savings account. I see my coupons and stuff as my weekly habits, this is an over and above type of thing. But I suppose each to their own, if people don't normally coupon shop, then it'll come as a massive saving.

I received £50 owed to me today, rather than just putting it into my normal daily account, I put it straight into my savings, as I haven't effectively missed the money. I'm loving how good I am being so far, let's hope it continues throughout the year. Im now standing on 8.33% woop! :D

    Hi

Great idea, if I can do this I could pay off my credit card balance and be able to join my family on their holiday in October. Please include me, I'll keep you posted!

Just did a quick calculation out of interest to see how much money we need to average on a weekly basis to reach our target by 2013, and it's just under £39 a week. (£38.69 to be exact) Daily, bearing in mind we have 366 days this year as it's a leapyear, it works out at £5.50 a day, so we should've all made £49.50 by the end of the day today if counting from January 1st. :eek:Hope we all make it. Lots of people have got a good headstart already.

Eeeep. I'm still on virtually zero! Although in my defence, I should have a load of overtime in my pay come through this week which would have set me up strong but work missed the cut off date so I should get it next week instead. Hopefully by this time next week I'll be on track.... :/

Keep going everyone, you're doing great!
