Thank you Lomcevak. Gotta think of ways to make enough for next year. How are you getting on?
This year has been great, i'm over £3k now, and i've not spent any of it (yet) so have built up a nice chunk of savings in the background. :A
2013 will be harder though, as i've used a lot of the 'easier' options this year - e.g. I had a big ebay session to declutter the attic a bit, and chased down a tax overpayment, together just those two took me over half way for '12. So i'm going to have to think a bit harder this year0 -
I did a total of £2973 which I paid off debt.0

Well Done CharityWorker :-)
Lomcevak - Ooh thats really good. I have not spent the vouchers that i got and the cash i got is waiting to be put in the bank on 1st January. Other monies have gone straight into the bank.
I have still got a fair bit to get rid of and although i have been decluttering the house is not showing for it. Lol.

Hi all
Sorry Ive not updated on here for months. I've been interested to see everyone's updates-well done! I was a bit despondent after my first attempt at selling on eBay earlier in the year resulted in someone not paying, and someone saying the item hadn't arrived, then I had an unexpected upheaval at work, ending in me changing jobs. So Ive not been on here to update. But Ive still kept some rough notes on my savings and here's my total for the year:
£40 saved from my Xmas money to buy a new bag for work, DH bought me one as a gift
£400 overtime
£150 selling stuff on eBay
£50 saving on the underground, by linking my oyster with my gold card (saving approx £1 on each off peak tube journey).
£100 in cashback from barclaycard, which I used to buy my season ticket (which was then refunded by work as a season ticket loan)
£25 given to me from barclaycard when I asked to cancel the card!
£15 in m&s vouchers from using my m&s credit card (paying off in full each month)
27.50-nectar redemption
£2 personalised birthday card with MSE code (actually saved £3.50, but would never have paid that, so just allocated £2 saving)
£10 in vouchers for train delays
£30 on Christmas presents by giving everyone the same present which I bought at wholesale, rather than retail
£1,290 in holiday pay/time in lieu I got when changing jobs (work was so busy I hadn't had a holiday)
Without this challenge I would not have started selling things on
eBay, nor been so conscious of savings I can make.
I made over half the money when I changed jobs, and was paid for unused holiday. I won't have that luxury next year, so the challenge will be much harder to save £2013. Ive been encouraged by all the other people on this post. Well done to everyone who has made it, or even just made a few changes and saved a bit along the way.

Hello everyone
I've not posted for ages, however I saw the £2013 thread was up and it's inspired me to come back on.
I've still been keeping a tally for 2012 - and I'm pleased (and a little surprised!) to say I managed it! My grand total is £2031.69! I have to say saving money on remortgaging and not paying interest on a credit card did it for me this year, so next year will be a big challenge. Saying that, I have been rubbish at logging my shopping savings and given how much of my income goes on food, I'm sure I saved quite a bit there (sounds like a bit of a contradiction there, but I know what I'm talking about)
The spreadsheet has been great as I can see where I do bring in the money/savings. I actually do pretty well with product trials, I'm getting used to ebay, and I'm rubbish at competitions - although £50 worth of goods in December did boost this a bit!
I've signed up for next year - the husband has a big birthday and I'd like to be able to afford a nice surprise, while keeping on top of paying back the credit cards too.

Everyone has done really well on this challenge.
I've had at least £400 from survey websites and sites like swagbucks etc with a final total of approx £1251.
I haven't kept track as well as I should have for the past couple of months due to changing jobs and having december off to just chill out.0 -
Hi all!
I haven't really posted much on here but we managed to save £1799.27 over the year through SM price guarantees/vouchers, using vouchers earned from surveys/SBs and loyalty points to buy pressies with, overtime and a bonus and collecting our loose change. Some of it we did use to pay for xmas but we've just paid off half of our holidy of a lifetime we're having next year.0 -
December wasn't quite as good as i'd hoped, but I managed £269.89 in total - was going well then tailed off as Christmas approached.
The final total for 2012 is £3401.99 which i'm pretty chuffed withhaven't spent a penny of it yet either, plan is that if I hit the 2013 target too it'll fund a family holiday to Disneyland
