So you caught the non pooper scooper too? Well worth it just for that. A lady I know, saw this woman every day let her Dog do it bus right in the middle of the gateway to her house, where if she did not know it was there would just step in it. So she collected it each day for two weeks, Followed Dog walker home - noted down address and kept watching her to see when she went out. Lady went out next day for her hairdressing appointment, so this lady took the bag of doggy doos to other house and emptied it through letterbox. Many of the neighbours saw her do this. Lady gets back home and opens door and puts her foot right in it. Not one person who'd seen the lady I know do that reported her to the other one. They considered that justice had been served. You see victims can only take so much and all it takes is one to be brave.
However, the funny part was that she seemed to think she might know who had done the crime! Called cops and they came and took a statement. Visited my friend and asked her did she do it?
Course I did, she had been leaving it in my gateway for months and I'd stood in it on at least 2 different occasions, I only thought it fair that she got given her property back officer. Law states you have to clean it up and put it in the Dog waste bin. I have photographic evidence of her letting her Dog do it if you care to have a look. He duly looked and agreed that my mate was only returning the property back to its owner and therefore he did not do anything with it. Officer goes back to complainent and explains that clearing up her Dogs mess and popping it in special bin that she has to pass on way back to her house would be best for all concerned otherwise, he may start getting interested in her habits and thinking of how a criminal can develope from simple non poop cleaning to other far greater crimes. No problem after that.0 -
I havent actually caught the non scooper, but I'm assuming they have seen the signs saying we have CCTV and don't take the risk anymore. At least once a week a pile would appear, worse in winter when its dark and you don't realise until you step into the house

The other interesting thing I picked up was the Police themselves! We reviewed the footage of a Saturday night just to see if the other lad had been back, we caught a few foxes, nothing out of the ordinary until about 2am when a Policeman appears, wanders down the drive, checks the car over and the mirrors then leaves. Can't fault that!
Also OP, we have installed a security light overlooking the car that triggers should anyone come on the drive, we also installed a sensor alarm, should anyone cross the drive a buzzer sounds in the garage (so whoever is there can hear that they have been picked up) and in the house.

So apart from the wireless PIR, do you have any other links to your hardware pulliptears? - such as the CCTV system you use?
We've also had car vandalism now on 4 different cars and again just recently and the fuzz don't give a damn - even suggesting we get rid of the affected vehicle to stop it happening. I sat there in disbelief at what he was saying.0 -
Hey

Yep, we use a Storage Options system similar to this:

We originally purchased the 1TB Hard drive version which was a little more expensive but the hard drive failed out of the box and they didnt have another in stock at the time:

The 2 cameras are colour and are excellent video quality even at night. We have one camera fixed to the garage giving a close up view and another higher up giving a more general view of the property. With that system you can add further cameras, which is something we plan to do at the rear of the house next year. This is a typical view at night from one camera:
I can't fault the Police in our case, possibly because there was just so many incidents from the same people, our footage put an end to a 3 week crime spree where over 20 cars were targeted for their mirrors.
(important to add that our house is 3 storey with front door at first floor level, this means we dont have a direct view from our living room of the car on the drive so the camera is invaluable really)0 -
How far from you does the prime suspect live ?
If it is more than half a mile, have a word with the police and drop his name, ask them to get his mobile phone records and if he was daft enough to take his phone along with him, the police might want to ask him what he was doing near your house in the dead of night.
Mobile phones are excellent tracking and tracing devices.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
My faith in the fuzz has gone completely. They only care about themselves and their chums. After being advised to get shot of our car I'm really lost for words.0
