The dangerous wind this week. Self-help

  • I work at home and the wind is so strong in Perthshire that I have had to lock my office door or the constant drafts have been blowing it wide open. Earlier on the wind was horizontal and the precipitation looked a bit sleety but thankfully it is pitch black outside so I can't see the miserable weather any more. Fingers crossed we will keep our electricity 'cos there's not much I can do without it. I am trying a haggis round tonight (like a mince round but with haggis) as it is exactly the sort of stodge to keep you going (oven permitting!).

The power lines are being flown about something rotten here. The lights flicker every so often so we'll see if our electric survives.

I checked my forecast this morning for wind and gust speed. They were predicted to be less than last weeks bad weather but what I can see and here here the constant wind speed is much greater and the gusts are pretty much frightening!

My area has a snow warning out but none for wind !! Bad forecasting, really got it wrong eh. Much worse than Thurs here - mainly because of direction - last week's was hitting the gable end of the row but this one's coming right in the front windows.

Horrendous weather here today and there are mutterings that it is only going to get worse as the week goes on. I am dreading it.

It's all calmed down here now, but clear skies, so we'll have frost.
  • ne englands been really windy today. We're on a level 2 warning again. I'm pretty sheltered at the front but the back has really been getting hit.

  • North Wales today, it`s been a cold, harsh `Lazy wind`...doesn`t blow round you, goes straight through. Went to my car for smoke breaks x 4 at work today, & returned each time looking more windswept. Happy to report it`s calmed down, and fire isn`t smoking so at least it`s not blowing the wrong way here. Stay safe & careful though.

I was a bit horrified to hear our local weather presenter Ian Fergusson

Our weather presenter told us that we would be getting showers 'which would provide us with snow' - makes it seem like a good thing.
