Morning all, Boy is is ever windy outside here in St Ives Cornwall...... Even the ever oblivious DD1 (13yrs) is panicking, tried to let the dogs for a wee with retractable lead this morning but could barely get the door open without the suction trying to slam it again, Pugs we almost taking off and the cat decided to pee on the bathroom floor.... Hey ho, needs must I suppose!
Just listening to Radio Cornwall and we have a storm force winds 10-11 Yeouuch!!!
Further up the Tamar Bridge is closed to bikes, caravans and high sided vehicles.
I was hoping last night when I went to bed that this would of blown over by morning (excuse the pun) but it seems to be getting worse!!!
Batten everything down peeps, I have to nip out into the dark garden and get some of my vintage mirrors inside ( used to attract sunlight!!!):rotfl:Thriftkitten

there's a tall aerial on a roof opposite me - about 8-10 ft high at a guess - which has held up to everything in the 14 years I've lived here - now it's a goner!0

ive never heard it this bad and usually when it gets light it doesnt seem as bad, but not today, the greenhouse has just blown off its anchors that were attached to the green house and the concrete under base and its now wedged between the compost bin and next doors fence, with only a couple of hours sleep last night as well, i feel like crying, im not usually this dramatic honestly..
Just heard they have recorded 97mph up in scotland wow if its really bad here cant imagine 97mph, hope everyone in scotland stays safe.0 -
Didn't seem 'too' bad when I set off for work this morning. Although I only really worry about the garden fence, any panels get demolished and I can't let the mutts out.0

 Scary stuff here!
There is stuff all over the place outside and one of the giant trees across the road has snapped in half. Totally gutted as we were hoping to go away today but better safe than sorry
What I am curious about is why there has been no real warning about the wind this time?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Hi all
My partner left for work at 7am and has just text me to say he made it in safe but had to divert around fallen tree's etc.
Wind and rain here in Swansea south wales is horrid, and its bin day so Im watching a street full of people between big blasts retrieving their wheelie bins/bags/boxes etc.
Window upstairs in our bedroom is rattlign , made worse by the fact we havent gotten curtains up yet only nets! but I was woken up the night before by the rain we had - it was monsoon-esque if thats a word, and then the wind last night.
My poor greenhouse has too be blown away and my boyfriend retrieved it from the bottom of the garden last night and weighed it down on its side with various bike wheels and parts but Ive gone out this mornign to check it - and make sure pooch hadnt done a dorothy and all the frame is contorted.:( but im hoping its salvagable when this weather stops.
And to think I was feeling better today so was going to go into town to pay my rent and water bills that were due before christmas! Sure one more day wont hurt!Time to find me again0 -
I'm watching our eucalyptus tree, which is bent almost double over the chicken run - it's very flexible but surely it can't maintain that angle indefinitely? And the bantams are getting blown all over the garden - it's the closest to being able to fly that they're ever going to get, so they're quite enjoying their little selves! But I can hear big things being blown around in the street & in neighbouring gardens - not good.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
