  • It sounds worse than last time - I had no idea we were under red alert for winds until the noise woke me up this morning! Keeping an anxious eye on Fife trains since OH is in Edinburgh.

  • I don't think i've heard wind like this in a long time and it's been going all night! At one stage the roof made an almighty creaking sound, I keep thinking I hope it stays on cause I'd be so embarrassed if the neighbours could see all the junk up there :rotfl : but seriously I am a bit worried about it. Have thought of going to friends house (which isn't on top of a hill) but it's definitely not safe to drive in this with 3 kids in car. We'll just sit tight today.

For preparing for winter next year - tidy loft in case roof comes off!

My lights keep dimming quite badly. They didn't do this during the last high winds so things must be a wee bit worse out there this time.

I've just watched a prog about emigrating to Australia, right now I'm thinking that's an excellent idea. :D

Rubish strewn all over the street, roof tiles off (not mine, I think) and bins blown onto the road. Trees down, blocking local road. Not good.

Makes me think of the poor people in other countries who are faced with tornado like blasts, floods and suchlike every season.

Got up earlier because of the noise of the wind in case I didn't get my morning cup of tea! Trivial or what?

We awere right in the path of today's wind, our roof was damaged quite a few tiles off, we have 3 fences down, neighbours garage roof was on the road this morning and out of 24 houses here 20 of them has some sort of damage mainly fences down and roof tiles off.

Luckily all the men got together and made sure everyone was water tight and cleared the debri up.
Surprisingly our electric stayed on so I was able to do a roast dinner in amongst it all.:rotfl::rotfl:

My mum, in Glasgow, has a tree over her Drive which has fallen out of the Botanic Gardens Arboretum. The postbox on the corner has vanished in the crown of the tree and at least one car is under it. Luckily her car is fine - in a previous storm her car was totally crushed (think 1986?). The tree is still there as there is another access point and the authorities are busy clearing streets where it's totally blocked so am sure her place is low down on their priorities.

I really hope that everyone is safe.

The hurricane was 1987, don't know if that was the one? I'm in Suffolk, and the winds were howling and whistling round the back garden earlier (though everything is still there) so I dread to think what it must be like further North.

Lost two fence panels and the post between them today in East Anglia! :(
Luckily its the neighbours side so they can have the expense, the only trouble is it doesn't sound like they are in a rush to put them back up. We have dogs so its a real pain in the rear, I guess we will have to go out with them with leads tonight for last call! To be fair they have said they don't mind the dogs going in their garden, but the last thing I want to do is go dodoo picking in their garden!
