Is the expiration date fair? Not in terms of length, but in terms of the service/avaiability.
Does it cost RLD anything financially to allow this voucher to still be used? If the answer to that is 'no' then they are simply using the expiry date as a way to profit rather than for a genuine business reason.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
this must means that all the below and many more must be breaking the law being unfair as these all have vouchers with expiry dates on, which most will give the card a 3 yr expiry date
argos vouchers
high street vouchers
Arcadia Gift Vouchers
Currys & PC World Gift Vouchers
Debenhams Gift Vouchers
John Lewis Vouchers
National Garden Gift Vouchersburnleymik wrote: »

Stop trolling or start reading. You just keep throwing in baiting questions and it's getting boring.
The point re the vouchers has been explained so many times throughout the thread, if you still refuse to read or understand it then there is nothing more I can say to you. If anyone can find an example where you buy any pre paid deal and it lasts forever I will be very surprised. Everything has an expiration date and it's perfectly fair. Consumer rights are important but sometimes companies need a chance to function and I don't think that here they've done anything wrong! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's not about it lasting forever, it's a relative thing and the financial burden issue. So if it's not about lasting forever... what would you define as a reasonable length of time for it to be active? you speculate the financial burden is none, minimal at best.... at what point is it acceptable to say sorry, no longer valid if you do agree it's unfair to last forever.... because even if they was active for 2,5,10 years somebodies always going to be in this situation....0 -

So what is fair? 11 months seems like a long time. What would you see as reasonable? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

IT'S RELATIVE TO WHATEVER THE VOUCHER IS FOR!!!!!! wow.
We are going around in circles. It's pointless. Until we know if RLD have any financial burden with these experience vouchers we can specualte forever.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
so with out sound like going on here burnleymilk you are saying rld should honor these vouchers forever if they are not paying out any just making money after 11months as in your eyes constitutes theft and is someone elses money and should either be honored or refunded?
also with that in mind i would ask you how many companys make a percentage of money like that to be honest it is the norm and the terms reasonable time come to mind, and finally another question comes to mind lets say we change the law and make things open ended on all vouchers how many companys do you think would fall thru consequential loss over time.
i would say that it would bring a few down over time and really that would be unfair on companys at the end of the day when a voucher is issued it has a time limit on it its shown in the t&c and printed on the voucher really couldn't be more clearer than you always get those that try it on.
on a side issue what it would seem trevor is/wants to do is challege the existing system in relation to vouchers having any time limit at all really its just he's particular beef is with rld at this moment in time until the next voucher that he forgets about/hasn't got time to sort out. but if he does win it would set a new legal precedent, i personally want this to go to court so the judge can laugh it out.
one thing i have noticed trevor has been very quiet for the last few days, shame he could edit his thread with a poll the question being 'should company vouchers be open ended with no expiry?' answers being 'yes','no','not sure'. but i doubt he would want to hear an overall opionon if it didn't suit his own agenda.
one thing people should do to cut this dead in the tracks for the future for people like trevor as an example is ask friends and family not to buy vouchers at all cash is pretty open ended. oh that reminds me trevor the old style £50 notes will be withdrawn so if you have any you need to change them for new ones or use them up as in 20 months think you will be only to change them at the bank of england.

Who is Burnleymilk?you are saying rld should honor these vouchers forever if they are not paying out any just making money after 11months as in your eyes constitutes theft and is someone elses money and should either be honored or refunded?
You are putting words into my mouth, I have never said it constitutes theft. People are too fixated on the time length. If RLD are still offering the exact same experience packge 11 months down the line or two years down the line, then if you have a voucher it should be redeemable, as long as it doesn't put RLD at a financial disadvantage. Op had thought about this and offered to pay any difference in cost.also with that in mind i would ask you how many companys make a percentage of money like that to be honest it is the norm and the terms reasonable time come to mind,
Maybe so, but even if it's in the T+C's if it can be proven it's no financial burden then it's unfair to the consumer and should be challenged as such.and finally another question comes to mind lets say we change the law and make things open ended on all vouchers how many companys do you think would fall thru consequential loss over time.

This is just silly, like I have said numerous times, this Experience voucher is unique in the gift it offers and presumably the way it is redeemed by the vendor. Obviously if the expiry date on the voucher had good business reason, which most do, there is no unfair terms.on a side issue what it would seem trevor is/wants to do is challege the existing system in relation to vouchers having any time limit at all really its just he's particular beef is with rld at this moment in time until the next voucher that he forgets about/hasn't got time to sort out. but if he does win it would set a new legal precedent, i personally want this to go to court so the judge can laugh it out.
I disagree, he has an issue with this one company and their voucher expiration policy, he isn;t challenging a "System", he is challenging RLD's T+C's as they seem unfair to the consumer.one thing i have noticed trevor has been very quiet for the last few days, shame he could edit his thread with a poll the question being 'should company vouchers be open ended with no expiry?' answers being 'yes','no','not sure'. but i doubt he would want to hear an overall opionon if it didn't suit his own agenda.
The poll sounds a decent idea. I doubt Trevor has been back because what more can he say other than what is in his OP?

I think a voucher is a much nicer gift than cash, it shows you have put some thought into what the recipient would like. Unless specifically asked for I always see giving cash as the easy way out.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0
