After Orbit died I rehomed a 6 month old all white deaf cat called Christmas. As soon as I got her home the trouble started, she was constantly going up onto the book cases, shelves ect & broke a few ornaments so I ended up putting all the ornaments in the spare bedroom & shut the door.At 5am I was up taking the bookshelves off the wall in my bedroom.
Sadly,I had to return her the next day as,tbh,I couldn't take having my home wrecked (not her fault I agree)
Thew ASSISI agreed that she was too boisterous & I came away with Miss Daisy.Last year I was over in the vets & saw a poster that Christmas the cat was rehomed & had gone missing.Part of me,the cynical part, wonders if the owners left the window open deliberately.....0

My local pet adoption centre doesn't call the £75 a donation. I don't like the word donation anyway when it's compulsory they call it a "non re-fundable adoption fee of £75 for a cat is required".... In the "conditions of adoption" it quite clearly says "Adoption fees are non-returnable."
So the OP here didn't like the cat because it was too aggressive. Well that's too bad. Send the cat back and write the £75 off.:footie: Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. I liked the cat - i was very attached and gave him weeks to settle but unfortunately he continuously attacked my fiance and went out looking for cats to fight after the initial month of keeping him inside. I haven't had to write off the £75 - I can take another cat/kitten from the same place. the dilemma was that this has been a problem and i'm not sure of my next steps. I'm not sure you've read all the posts.
Thanks to the helpful posts on here i'll be waiting til the new year and then going back to the centre hopefully with our kitten to find a friend. thanks all 0 0

Thats terrible, I would never do that or even consider it. it was hard taking him back and tears were shed as I was attached, but it was the right decision and hopefully we will end up at some point with a cat that will love our kitten and get on with all of us well!0

My lot got Argos Platinum, around £10 per month per cat and 7k cover per year which was very useful when George needed his legs operated on at just over a year old......0

Being owned by my own deaf, white, climbing, destructive, tornado of a cat, Millie....I can confirm that this behaviour seems to be typical of deaf white cats. So.....I would say that in Spike's case and also that of the original poster the Rescue where at fault for failing to properly assess the character of the cat in question. I had originally stepped in to foster this cat ( and her 'brother' ) but soon decided that she would in fact be a rather difficult cat for some homes to cater with, so she has stayed with me, broken book shelves and all!0

I got both my cats from a rescue centre and I had to pay a non-returnable adoption fee for both. When I got the second cat, I knew there was a chance that it might not work out with my first cat because the second cat had bullied her kittens.
I took the risk knowing that if it didn't work out then I would have to pay another £60 to take a different cat and lose the first £60 but I did it anyway because they have to pay a lot of money to look after the cats.0

In the grand scheme of things I just hope some of the £75 went towards treating the poorly kitten so it can be adopted out eventually.0
