If he's genuine he ought to refund your costs, i.e. the listing fee.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. If I was in the bidder's position the first thing I would have done is contacted all the sellers, explained the situation and offered to pay at least some of the fees.
If all the sellers proceed with the NPB's process he will be NARU'ed anyway.
As you have no proof that what he says is not true, I think I would DEFINITELY leave a neutral at the very least.

I would leave him a neutral stating ,bidders son bid on this item without parents knowledge hence no sale.

Why don't you check if what he says is true by doing an Advanced Search by Bidder - you can then see if his son really has bid on 27 items. If he hasn't and it is obviously an excuse then I would def leave him a neg!
    Nice to save.

doesn't it just make you SPIT!? i had a similar 'child bidder' problem, girl bid on an item, sent me a cheque from her piggy bank style savings account, cheque bounced, wouldnt answer the phone...so i rang during the day (while she was at school) and spoke to her Dad lol! apparently she'd done it before, he sent me the item i'd sent right back! at least some ebay parents are responsible...

On the 8th day after starting the NPB process you have to close the claim to get your FVFs back and at that point the buyer gets a strike on their account.

I've not had to do a full NPB since the new system started last year, but I expect someone else on here will tell you how to 'close' the process correctly to get your FVF back.

    hi sunflower

The dispute process is as clear as mud and has diddled me twice. You must respond to get your fee back and for them to get a strike. ( i made this mistake ). If they respond you can close the dispute straight away otherwise you have to wait the 7 days. After that it will say something like fee can be applied for and choose this option -

" I no longer wish to communicate with or wait for the buyer." With this option, the buyer receives an Unpaid Item strike, the seller receives a Final Value Fee credit, and the item is eligible for a relist credit.
