Furious

my first NPB !!

sent numerous invoices, reminders and personal emails - all ignored.

filed NPB dispute about an hour ago and he has replied already:

My son ordered this item without telling me and I don't have the money to pay for it even if I did I wouldn't order such a pointless item, sorry about the mess around.

had he replied to me and explained this i wouldnt have been so mad

but how rude just to totally ignore me ???

think i need a baileys....

i have replied (prob a bit too quickly should have calmed down first) saying i think he is rude for not replying

and that perhaps his son should be made to pay for the item
however as he allows his son access to his ebay account then HE is responsible for paying for the items he wins

Funny that I had the same email from a buyer I had a while ago. Maybe its the same pesky son again. They never replied till the non bidder either.

What a bloomin cheek! You should neg him for sure, its ppl like that who get my goat up!! grrr - rude - ignorant! Why call your item pointless, you should report him to ebay and recommend they ban him! not sure they will but it will make you feel better and if he's mucking others around then he'll get banned soon enough!

I have a had quite a few recently; slowly giving up on chasing them up. Usually newbies and the excuse is the same:-

Wasn't me was my sister/brother/friend etc

What makes it worse they tend to send sarcastic e-mails when you explain it is costing you money.

    Argghhhh ...newbies!!!

For what it's worth... I'd carry on with the NPB and make sure he gets a strike. Then leave a neg - you may get one back in spite, but these idiots make selling hard work.

I have had a similar problem in the past and did exactly that. I didn't receive a neg back - some users are perhaps not aware that they can leave fb if they haven't actually 'purchased' from you!!

I really hope it doesn't colour your judgement as a seller. :(

As a buyer it makes me feel sad. I don't know how or where they get the cheek from.
  • Hmmm, the comments about rudeness struck a chord. I'm no fan of Paypal so I pay by cheque, but I always mail the seller to let them know I've posted it and I always post it immediately I've won the bid.

The difference between communication from sellers is striking. For example, I sent a cheque off nearly 2 weeks ago, heard nothing, no acknowledgement, finally lost patience today and emailed the seller (politely!). Back comes the reply 'it got posted out to you today to you via 1st class recorded mail ok, im sorry about the delay as ive only just got back to work after a few days off with flu ok'. Crikey! He's 'had the 'flu', was laid so low that he could'nt let me know, then 'coincidentally' replies instantly to my email. And what's with the 'oks', not to mention the err interesting lack of capital letters and punctuation?

Ok, ok, I'm a bit of a stickler on punctuation ;) but I'm now awaiting the arrival of said item with a certain degree of trepidation.

On the other hand, I received instant acknowledgements on two other cheques which I sent only recently, stating that the items would be sent out immediately. Go figure.

I think the excuse 'my son bid by accident' is right up there with the excuse 'the dog ate my homework!'

It makes me cross that people can't see the dangers of allowing unrestricted access to their ebay accounts, it will be those same people whinging later that their account has been hijacked as their son/lodger/flat mate sent all their money to a scammer in Nigeria and expecting everyone to be sorry for them.

I agree with what others have said, carry on with the NPB and get a strike on his account, that's more important than the neg because after three strikes he is out.

On the point raised by weather wax I also agree that sellers and buyers that don't communicate are the pits. I bought something Friday and paid instantly by paypal and the seller hasn't even acknowledged anything. I know he doesn't have to and that my item is probably on its way (or at least I hope so) but would it hurt to send me one line just to say that he has the payment or something.

I have become a liitle naughty recently once I file my unpaid item dispute I follow up with one last email (prior to to leaving a NPB) explaining the actions I will take and what will happen to them (I try to leave them with the immpression that one NPB and they are out...tut tut).

    But I have also added:-

"If you do not value your EBay account by all means don't bother paying"

I tell you what, its had more effect than anything else.

Ahh yes...excuses, excuses. If it ain't the "it was my son/daughter/dad/dog/cat that bidded not me" line, its "my dad/mom/nan/grandad/gerbil/elephant/snake has died" line.

Ok ok, these things really do happen, I totally accept that. But surely it wouldn't take them just 5 mins to write a quick email just so you know what the score was?

As a seller, i like to keep my buyers informed all the way. I think keeping up the comms avoids possible problems that could happen further along the line. No comms from sellers are a real bugbear of mine. I've noticed that the newer sellers are better at keeping you informed than the big players.

  • My boss sold a sofa last week and it was his first experience of Ebay so he was feeling a little worried. Don't panic I kept saying .. I helped him out as I've bought and sold quite alot and didn't foresee any problems.

The sofa sold for just £100, he then emails the buyers with a congratulations message and 'when would you like to collect?'

She emails back the next day to say 'sorry but my husband had given me the wrong measurements and the sofa would not now fit in my front room'.

One unhappy new seller. He has copied and pasted the Help page from Ebay regarding non payer policy and he's emailed it to her asking her if she's sure she knows what she's doing ! We'll have to wait to see if she bothers replying.
