Barclaycard chip & pin not secure

The main reason for posting barclaycards poor security was to prevent this from happening to anyone else ,and not to believe barclaycards hype
when you enquire to take out a Barclaycard they will tell you if you are defrauded you will get your money back ,the apr rate is low, chip & pin is totally secure and various outher hype ,its all rubbish. you only get your money refunded on fraudulant purchases because they reclain the money from the goods suppliers. the apr rate is very poor compared to other cards ,and there security and records is virtually non existent
recommend you avoid barclaycard at all costs unless you live alone or barclaycard fixes its security loopholes and stops telling untruthes about being reimbursed for fraud. am still waiting.so unless you want your family or anyone at your address using your card take my advise and CLOSE IT, there's far more secure cards out there, better aprs and some even promise to put any losses due to fraud straght back into your account0 -
What happened is not down to poor security on Barclays part. No bank would issue a PIN number to someone without asking security questions. Someone at your property has requested the PIN number and used your card and PIN. Barclays will have a recording of the call, maybe this is why they are declining to repsond to you ? Because you have been negligent ?0

Sorry OP, but every card or bank account I have had has always had at least two security questions, both of which are personal details, so whoever asked for a new pin number will have had access to these details, why should they ring you if the security questions were answered correctly? If the questons are answered correctly they will (naturally) assume that they are talking to you.
Do you use online banking? did you leave yourself logged on and someone request the pin that way?
Hi no dont bank online as didnt feel it was secure enough ,have phoned myself when needin my account balance or outher info the security questions i was asked by barclaycard were a joke to say the least.the first question was to verify the first line of my address, the second was my date of birth. My name and address is in phone book and known to all in my village,as is my date of birth.this was all they asked for this is hardly secure.they then told me i had £**** i could spend and would i like to make a transaction.that was weeks after the account was confirmed to be stopped after fraud was reported.incompetant or what!0 -

Standard security questions - yes. They will also be known to family members living at your address, or close friends. I have family members and close friends who would know my details, and could request a PIN number for my cards - BUT - they never would.
Do you know who has used your card and PIN, i get the impression that you do ?0 -
If a whole village knows your details, I'd be rather shocked. I live in a small village and noone knows my date of birth! I suggest you perhaps put some extra security questions on any account you have, and you need a card to withdraw money at an ATM, not just a pin number. If you have basically left your card open to fraud, its your own stupid fault! I bank with Barclays and have not only a security number, but 4 different questions and I am always asked 2 questions regarding transactions on my account because I asked for this.
I think the OP is somewhat a troll, looking for someone to take pity on the fact someone he knows got hold of his card and did him over.0 -
ask those you live with, as one of them will be to blame
found out via Financial ombudsman after repeated requests from Barclaycard went unanswered that pin was not requested by anyone ,they just sent it out after a replacement Barclaycard, How stupid and irresponsible is that! no wonder there's so much fraud with Barclaycard
like I said there's far better credit cards out there with better interest rates, better security and fraud protection. So if you own a Barclaycard and its near its expiry date best advice is get rid ,close the account and make sure they confirm its closed. until Barclaycard amend this security loophole you are all at risk, and wont get reimbursed for this fraud.should it happen to you0 -

So, you blamed Barclaycard for sending out a PIN which you said had been requested by someone else. Then you find out that actually, no-one requested the PIN and that it's standard practice for this to be sent out.
Exactly who used your card and PIN then ? Whoever intercepted this PIN number also had access to your card, how is this a security issue on Barclays side ? It's not a loophole, it's you being negligent with your card, if someone else hadn't been able to get hold of it, the PIN would have been of no use to them whatsoever.0 -

So, are barclaycard responsible for you having a dodgy lodger? New card and pin is standard practice for all card issuers, so what steps have you taken for your new cards and pins from your new bank? If someone robs them, will they be at fault as well?
I know we all like to blame the banks for all evil, but I think this is a bit of a stretch....0 -
Hi everyone,
I got fraud problem with my Barclaycard. They want from me letter and statement copy and identification. So i sent everything with special delivery to Barclaycard costumer service address in 1st December. And they told me we gonna cancel your card now and we will send you new one.
Till today I did not get any news from them.I called today they said to me we did not received any letter from you!!!I called Postoffice they send me letter straight away ;Who take the my post, which day and what time:))
I called the Barclaycard team again i offered to cancel my card for the security reason. So what can i do now?what is the my legal rights? I want to sue them because this is really big security problem.
