Well dear me. I think the clue is in the sig line of the OP!
As others have pointed out you have only been there a few weeks. You have naff all protection. Just suck it up and get on with it.
The employer is not interested in your travel problems, they just want you to be there at the time of your shift. If the public transport is unreliable the onus is on you to get there at the agreed times. They really don't care if you have to start at dawn! I had a similar problem in Winter through living in an out of the way spot. If you think they are being unreasonable, far better just 'comply' than get a reputation as a pain in the backside. If you eventually need another job, it's better to have a decent reference. Harsh reality of working life I'm afraid.

I agree - the OP sounds like the type of person who could start an argument at an empty bus stop !
  • im shocked over the huge fuss you are making over being asked to make up time you lost.
you didnt ask the company when it would suit them for you to be late so why should they ask you when you would like to pay back the time?
all the fuss you are making over working a bit longer than normal is more likely to give you a migraine than just getting on and doing what theyr asking.
it makes no differance to them if it was a bus that didnt turn up you just fancied a lie in... being late is being late!

Maybe on the net, yes. In reality, I'm placid. But I'm not enjoying this job at all, it's been one thing after another with this place, starting with them not telling me the correct shifts at interview stage.

sounds like that was lack of communication between those who interviewed you and those who decide on the hours.

Same people unfortunately, I was livid at first because I had left a job that was more pay, however I started to get used to it and enjoyed having a day off during the week (hours were 9 till 8, 4 days a week) then as soon as I had got round to it they changed it to a week of earlies and a week of lates, just as I had planned loads of stuff on thursdays (my day off).

I'm still awaiting the bonus to even be talked about let alone even implemented so I'm short each pay week to what I was hoping for.

December 16th. Fingers crossed, just hope the medication for these migranes isn't something that will stop it as that will see me devestated.

As for those pointing me to those threads, I fail to see what you're trying to point out other than what I've pointed out myself.

Maybe if I had a car life would be different as it is I rely on buses and if !!!! happens I'm going to moan about it. (I am English after all)
