Advice: Late for work/working it back

I am just whinging, not going to deny that, I'm !!!!ed off. I'm being punished for naff all.
Some perspective here.
You are NOT being punished for naff all, you are being given a chance to redeem yourself after having been two hours late for work!
Where you live and how you get to work are of no concern to your employer, and they are not required to take that into account when deciding how to deal with you. They have a policy and they stick to it, which they are best advised to do.
Think yourself lucky you are not on the sticky end of a warning or worse!0 -
Could you get a bike and cycle to work, ask on freecycle/ look in your local paper
Can you get a car share to work, and offer £x towards petrol

I would also ring the bus company and complain to them! They may compensate you enough to pay for a cab one morning!
I am going to put in a complaint (again) tonight. The last time I did it I took the response in to my employer just to confirm that I'm not lying as that's how it always feels. The response from first was that they apologise but they do always try to get them on time but sometimes they can not help it. Hardly helps my relationship with work.
Will do it again though, will also complain about the dire service that I've found in the area I'm living, definitely made me realise how important it is as something to look at when looking at work or moving home.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -

Well why has HR confirmed that there is no such policy in writing and no such policy has been advised to me. If they want to go down discplinary over me refusing to work it back over one day then I'll be certainly asking for proof of any such policy as I'm not daft and read the handbook front to back, as well as my contract.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -

You are - it sucks doesn't it? I really feel for you, having to do all that waiting
It wasn't your fault but your employers are treating you exactly as though it is.
Fingers crossed the buses will be more reliable in future. In the meantime, oh well, one really long day at work and at least you'll be square again

This is not a punishment, this is you being asked to fulfil your contracted hours. It is not the fault of the employer that you were late either.
Take a step back and think about what will happen if you kick up a fuss. Is it really worth it?0 -

I'm more than happy to work the hours back.
Why do the company feel that it is unreasonable to do it over 2 days?
They say it's policy but there is nothing in any documentation.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -

Why will they bother with a disciplinary? Far easier just to show you the door.0 -

Since when was lateness gross misconduct?Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -
I bet if their was a union in place at this place they'd think twice about not accepting a reasonable proposal to make back the time.
Get applying for temping jobs tonight me thinks. I'd be more inclined to accept this and keep my head down if I was intending to stay here but I'm leaving at the end of January all being well.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0
