from a web development point of view, Chrome is just as quirky (in a negative sense!!) in IE in some ways with Firefox being the most forgiving.
Be a real shame for Firefox to be pushed out completely as it would send a negative message to other open source style projects.

I actually only keep chromium/chrome on my syustem as Starbucks wont let you top up your card with FF (before chrome I used ie4linux to do it), the webpage used to say use ie or netscape navigator:eek::eek:. But no one is going to mess with the might of google.

Looking at that the graph in that article, it's plain that Firefox is remaining steady at 25% of the market. Chrome is increasing market share to the detriment of Internet Explorer.
The title of the article should read "Is Internet Explorer in trouble?"

In terms of ease of use and security, IE has been lagging behind the competition for years.

these are the stats for europe only, as you can see firefox is the most popluar browser in europe very closely followed by IE, both loosing ground to chrome, in the past 12 months IE and firefox have both lost 5% and chrome has gained 10%.

I've been using FF for years and I'd really miss it if it disappeared. Don't want bloated corporation Google nosing at everything I'm doing online :mad:

Seamonkey is a community-led development of the original Mozilla browser, not just a re-badging exercise.

Iceweasel was derived from Firefox in order to escape the licensing constraints imposed by Mozilla Corporation when using Mozilla brand names, and to prevent the use of copyrighted material such as the Firefox logo.

And in the same way, Iceape is a derivation of Seamonkey with non-free components removed.

As far as I know (not 100% sure) there are no major functional differences between Iceweasel and Firefox; and Iceape and Seamonkey.
