Hi this is such a huge thread so apologies if im not the only one to ask lol
hubby and i went through a company to get our charges back from barclays july 2007 we still have heard nothing and on the companys site all it says is they are awaiting the outcome of the trial case, its after now and nothing not even a letter to explain. I see people here are already getting their refunds (well done)!!is it too late for us to do anything or should we continue to wait??
many thanks in advance xx0 -
Hi
Too busy to reclaim my bank charges. Have heard that there is a company that will do it on my behalf for a commision fee. Does any one have any knowledge or experience about using a company like this? All information gratefully recieved.

All I can say is that if you decide to go down this route, you will almost certainly rue the day you ever signed up. Don't say you were never warned.0 -
I have to agree with the last message, the process is pretty staight forward and not as time consuming- it will save loads plus the nice bit of reclaiming is you did it yourself.
If you use the route of using a company ....go to your account withdraw a load of money and throw it in the wind.

Hi
I apreciate what you are saying and understand the costs involved, but in my situation some money back is better than no money back, I know i shall never get around to doing it myself no matter how easy it is.my life is very hectic and i cant really be bothered. and if i did get around to it a year could easilly go buy so it will be well worth me paying someone to act for me. in fact one year at least has already gone by and i have only got this far. just need to know if anyone has had experience with such a company, so i get the ball rolling and not have to think about it.0 -
It only takes as long as typing a letter. In fact it doesn't even take that long as you can just print the templates. God help you if you can't spare time for that.0

I would only ever use a company that charges 10% as a maximum fee with no up front fees0

Hi everyone.
I had a call yesterday from a company called Total Refund who are offering to get my cc charges back, they say for a one off fee of 59.00 they will recoup ALL of the carges and I will receivethe refund in a cheque, regardless of whether there is an outstanding balance with the cc. Just to be sure I asked. If I try to claim back 1,100 and my outstanding balance is 1,800, the refund will not be paid off the balance but to me. They said that the cc company pay the money directly to them(total refund) and they then send me a cheque. Does anybody have any comments or dealings with this type of company.
Thanks

Morning all,
I have just tried to post this but it doesnt seem to have worked so please forgive me if I am repeating myself. Basically I really needed some help and advice to hopefully put my mind at ease. The situation is this.......Las year I decided to reclaim my charges for my uni days. The total charged by HBOS was about £850. I decided rather than get involved with writing letter etc I would simply use one of the many specialist websites who offer to do it on customers behalf for what I naively though was 10% of total claim. I hadnt realise that there could be potentially lots of other charges.
Following the test case I received a letter for the firm pursuing my claim with details of total amounts claimed. The claim was for £750 for myself, 10% commission for them and also nearly £400 of legal charges etc. The letter also stated that they were now ready to take the HBOS to court and had issued a LBA in order to pursue full settlement. throughout the letter if stressed that if I drop out i will be liable of all costs and cancellation fee and also if I excepted a lower settlement i would be liable for this.
I am really concerned about all this as I do not want to be in a position were I need to pay out lots of fees and also Im worried that the fees will be more than the claim. At this stage I would prob just rather stop the whole thing as its starting to worry me but obviuosly then i will need to pay out lots on legal fees.
Please please can anyone help. perhaps i am worrying about nothing? anyone else using these types of firms to claim back?
Thanks

Have you got a written contract with them? What does it say? No win, no fee usually requires the claimant to pay for costs if the claimant drops out. Rationale is that the firm then doesn't have the opportunity to recover its costs.0
