Goodness sake, a bit of mud, a builder giving a bit of language. I do wonder if some of you like a drama, some posters seem to post about every little thing in their life.

No offence, but why do you need your husband to come home and deal with that? You're more than capable of dealing with it yourself and *not* by hiding away in your house crying. The way to deal with bullies is to show them that you're not prey, but in fact a bigger and nastier predator than they are.

So take a breath, grow a backbone, get up, get out there and do this:

    1. Pick up the cables and throw them off your borders
    2. Locate the idiot and say: "Oi knobhead. Keep your stuff OFF my property or you'll be coming back from lunchbreak to find your van tyres considerably lower. Now pi$$ off and don't get me any angrier than I already am."

It may sound uncouth but my experience of these situations is that men who are like that soon back down if they are met with equal or superior aggression.

Am I alone in thinking Welshwoofs might be scarier than the scary workman in the first post? (I'm a wuss when it comes to things like this unless I really lose it, and then I become a raging harpie - but it's rare)

Is this not a tad over exaggerated??? Good god, how many people feel genuinely threatened being told to eff off?? I think a little backbone growing wouldn't go amiss here!! A lot would depend on how the builder was spoken to as well, I've had this sort of thing and what I said was " right lads this is a dammed mess, tell you what, you sort it out and I'll make you a cup of tea" job done! There are ways of saying things, and TBH if someone came at me with attitude, I'd probably say "do one" as well!!! :D

It may be that victory didn't handle the situation as well as she might have, but I for one would not take kindly to being told to fcuk off by an adult. I would feel very offended, and possibly threatened, depending on his manner. I work with teenagers, some of them with extremely foul mouths, so am not shocked by bad language from adolescents. Adults (who are not friends joking around) are another matter.

The point I was making though, was that because of the way I would approached them, they wouldn't have said that to me in the first place. But if it was marching up with a certain "look" on your face, I bet they thought "we've got a right one here" iyswim, so instantly there is a standoff. I wouldn't think that even the most belligerent builder would tell someone to eff off without some reason, it was probably her tone and attitude. I can well imagine what it was like, she comes home sees the mess and goes off it! Builder's hackles goes up and and language deteriorates!:D

What we have here is a grown woman in tears over some mud on her shrubs and a workman telling her to F off! Of course, in an ideal world, the guy would have said "yes of course madam, I will clear this up immediately and sorry for the inconvenience".

Unfortunately, this is not an ideal world. Some people are rude, some people will tell you to F off. It's not nice, and I feel sorry for the OP, but it's not exactly something worth having an emotional breakdown over, and it's certainly not a reason to call the police. So yes, it happened, it wasn't nice, but now it's time to move on.

indeed but to be so upset by it (though not so upset as to leave the situation) is strange.

from the sentences used it seems like it was just said, not in an aggressive/shouty way.

it cant have been that bad for her to stay out and clean up her garden and plants so thoroughly, and if it was as bad as stated then that must have taken at least a few hours. especially if her plants were covered in mud which they arent now. must have been scrubbing for days! to be then still be so upset and hysterical about it after all that time - its a bit drama queen.

you do have to wonder why the op posted such a rant and then named the building company - i hope she has proof of her claims or they could sue her for libeling them. its been read 3000 times already - thats a lot of people potentially believing heresay.
