I've had courgette flowers, not battered but stuffed with goats cheese and deep fried. They were really nice, I was surprised.

      was the courgette flower deep fried too?

 I have feta in the fridge and a flower on the plant, I sense an experiment coming on.

Just planted some garlic. Had a bulb in my fridge for a while and it was starting to shoot.

My garlic died :( I thought the time had come to reap my rewards but when I pulled it up it was a piddly little thing about the size of two cloves!

I'm also looking for information on what I can grow in a pot, with the added problem of something that doesn't grow too tall? I cannot grow veg on the ground as my dog has the run of my (small) garden, but I have bought a 3 tier stand. On the top layer I have just planted (in a grow bag!) some lettuce, and in a hanging basket I have tumbling tom tomatoes. I am also growing herbs (raised off the ground again!) Any ideas what I can put on the other shelves of my stand?

I've got a courgette in a big pot, it grows quite wide, but not very tall (about 1') and I've had a couple of big courgettes and there are 4 more growing :j it seems to really like being in a pot, it takes lots of water though, so make sure you water it at least once a day, I do my pots twice a day, once at night and once early in the morning (before the sun gets on them)

I've got also got a chilli pepper (not doing much a bit slow) and 2 dwarf french beans which are about 2' high and seem to have stopped growning up and are now growing sideways at an alarming rate, they have flowers on (just). You can grow ordinary pepper in a pot too.

Lettuce can be grown in a pot and strawberries of course, if you buy a special strawberry pot you can get 5 or more plants in each pot.

I made a veg pot (from an idea in a magazine) it has a dwarf french bean at the back, lettuce all around the sides, a strawberry at the front (the magazine suggested putting a tumbling tomato at the front) The magazine suggested putting a flowering plant in the middle put I suppose you could put a dwarf pepper in there. Great if you're *really* limited for space

I've got my tumbling tomatoes in a hanging basket to make more room on the floor for pots, it's hung just outside the door so I can reach them without having to go outside if it's raining icon10.gif

I've got seven tomato plants - no flowers though. I have chives growing great guns and in an experimental mood I bunged three garlic cloves in a pot - now they're six inches tall! We'll be self-sufficient in garlic in no time!

My parsley is going well but my coriander bolted :( I actually feel a bit proud of this as I did zero research before I started planting stuff and now I can confidently use terms like 'bolted' in a sentence. I had some more pots so today I stuck the seeds from a pepper in a couple of them. Dunno if it'll work but it's not like it cost me anything. Turns out the windowsill in my dining room is a great place to start stuff anyway. It's a really small extension with patio doors that get the morning sun so it's warm but sheltered and plants seem to like it there.
