Last mix on the wall. I am shattered, but it feels good to be moving the kitchen forward after the destruction of the last week.

If anyone remembers my nightmares after DH suggested the mice were coming up from the cellar we have found the source. There was a redundant nest in the side of the window - they were travelling through the perished lime mortar. The wall is maybe 18 inches thick in that bit of the kitchen. The wall is now sealed and waterproof so no more visitors.

Have managed to wrap 5 presents. Then realised the time and thought I had better shift the evidence before the Valliteens arrive home.

    you and me both!

I always say that I will be organised before DD2's birthday - and I never am!

DH went into town yesterday (to avoid party preparations) and came back saying he had got all my presents! I've got nothing for him yet.....

Still I am pleased to announce that we have survived said 18th party! I even more pleased to announce that it will be the last party held here! Next year all her mates will be 18 and they can go out.

Ah Cycling THAT makes me feel MUCH better. In my defence (because there is ALWAYS an excuse!) I did plan to write my cards at half term but I had a stomach bug and 'lost' a few days.

Ah well - at least the sloes went into the gin in time!

Unrelated question - if a little grub was floating in your sloe gin would you remove it and say nowt?

If anyone queried it doesn't tequila come with some added protein? (Not that I know much about such things you understand - there was more alcohol consumed in this house last night than ever before.!)

Can anyone recommend a good slow cooker? Mine has an enormous crack in it.....:mad::mad::(:(:(

  • Hi all

Hope you are all well! I have been quite good this week or should I say yesterday I really blitzed the house! giggle.

Monday - all done to Level 2 (OH does the meal planning and we have no plants in the house - sad??)
Tuesday - all done - all levels! whoop whoop!
Wednesday - this is waiting for me - will be doing study later but bathroom is done!
Thursday - only managed level 1 - funny - as it is the one room nobody but me and OH enter, did not see the rush!
Friday - hmmmm Kids rooms are fine - they don't live here anymore and OH son only visits - I am reluctant to clean his room if he cannot be bothered to make the bed - I just close his door! giggle

    In terms of challenges:

all overseas family cards and UK family done and posted
Flylady cardswap cards written and posted
will wrap pressies later today if studies are complete or leave to next week
not doing decorations this year - no tree either as we are going up North to my sister for Xmas
Ironing is sorted - will schedule a night next week to finish ironing

Monday - 1 hour Yoga (as every Monday)
Tuesday - 1 hour and a bit reading (mainly studies but it is creative writing so still relaxing)
Wednesday - HH sitting with my feet up - make that nearly 2 hours as hubby and I watched a DVD
Thursday - Met up with friends for two beers!
Friday - night out with more friends - OH cooked dinner!

    Challenges next week are to:

Sort out our filing in the study and look into musicmagpie to get rid of the CD's and then the whole dresser in the study that is taking up space!

Would love to make a real start on TMA 02 and extract what is in my head onto paper!
Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

    Morning all

Warmer here today but grey and wet - preferred the cold and bright of yesterday myself.

Hoovered upstairs and put one load of washing on.

Need to do a few tasks on here and then tidy the kitchen and make lunch.

Off to get our Christmas tree later. Won't put it up until next weekend but will cut a bit of the base and let it stand in a bucket of water for a week.

    Also I must:
    empty the grate
    fill the log basket
    bake a cake
get DS2&3 to sing the family Christmas cards
    Do a bit more ironing
The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair
