The long & short of it is that if you ordered online / over the phone, and no longer want an item, you can pretty much get a refund due to distance selling regulations. (Not quite sure what difference it makes if you pick up from store, may just mean that once you leave store your rights are different, but never had a problem returning an unused item to Tesco).

However - you will probably have to wait until the item has arrived in store before requesting it refunded (as you basically reject the order), so if short term cash flow is the problem, this may not help. Or, if you don't collect after 2 weeks, the order is treated as rejected & money refunded.

It makes all the difference. DSR's only cover contracts where there is no face to face.....ie contracts concluded entirely at a distance.

However, regardless......you should be able to cancel as you have received no goods. But as above, this doesnt mean they will issue an immediate refund.

Do your local tesco actually stock this product or is it only tesco direct? Have you checked other websites to see what their price/delivery times are?

Not quite sure whether a "time is of the essence" claim is feasible here as product should have been delivered to the store 5 days ago yet you only went in today to pick it up. Have the store perhaps sent it back because you didnt pick it up? Not sure if there is a time limit on picking up the order or not.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

She had the baby last sunday but as baby was early she has had to stay in for the week. 14 days they keep the item for but this is a case of it never arrived at store rather than sent back. As far as i know they do not have this exact bouncer in store.

Contact Tesco customer service, explain what has happened and they will find out what has happened to the parcel. If you cancel the order it takes 3 - 5 working days to get your money back. Let Tesco Direct deal with it not the store.
I know all this because I had the same trouble with a Kindle I ordered. It didn't turn up at the store on the due date and still wasn't there the following day. It had been collected at the warehouse by the courier but hadn't been delivered to the store so they had to take it up with the courier company. Tesco Direct ordered another Kindle and I had it delivered to a different store (didn't have much faith in the way the first store dealt with me). I also asked for some money knocking off because of the petrol I had used travelling to the 1st store and they credited £10 back into my account.
So my Kindle was ordered Mon for delivery Weds and I got it on Sat........so much for click and collect :(
