Hmm. Odd how the governments of these places always seem able to afford tanks and the like (or in the case of India and Pakistan, atom bombs), isn't it?

Why not ask the managing director who is answering questions on net mums?
Hopefully you will get an answer.

I do feel it is a bit unfair to automatically add it to every bill. I think they could ask if you want to opt in, rather than the customer having to ask to have it removed. Or even better put it on the menu, so you order it along with your meal if you wish to donate.

They were doing this a year or two ago by adding 10p to the bill. There was supposed to be prominant notices on the tables, but there wasn't on mine. When the bill arrived, I queried the 10p on it. The waitress had to re-issue the bill without the 10p on it. It is nothing short of theft. Who do Pizza Hut think they are - the NHS? Imagine if chuggers put your hand in your pocket as you walk down the high street! Would people put up with that?

Oh I don't like that at all! Why should it be my problem to "opt out" of giving to that charity and be made to feel like a tight idiot?? Why can't they have system like Paypal where you at least get the option? I make a point of keeping my charitable donations much closer to home and would be uncomfortable about donating to the Pizza Hut cause for several reasons.

On the other hand, I can;t stand Pizza anyway and the kids MUCH prefer Domino's :D
  • I too was surprised to see it on the bill but like most people don't want to make a fuss for the sake of 15p. Nevermind that you're probably paying 100% more than most other outlets in the first place anyway.

Its like walking down the street and having someone put their hand in your pocket. Then pulling out a tenner and saying that as you didn't complain, they assumed you didn't have a problem with it.

I seem to recall the staff telling me whe I had my altercation about it, that Pizza Hut manipulate their staff into giving money to chartity too.

  • What else can you buy for 15p than the joy of helping someone (hopefully).

Just ask them to remove it. There's a hotel chain that does (or used to) add £1 on for charity - I just requested it be removed.

    I choose how / when I donate.

Alton Towers did this to us at Xmas.
We (politely) asked them to remove it

Hi everyone. I work at a pizza hut and i try to make sure all the tables i serve know what the 15p is for, and i say very nicely if you read through the leaflet and need it taken off for any reason it isn't a problem. It is totally up to the individual and i wouldn't make them feel bad about it and i don't think badly of anyone who wants it taken off. it ends soon though as it is only done for a certain period of time each year ( i think 2 months or so). Pizza hut donate a certain amount to the charity too.

But it shouldnt be automatically addied. It is embarrasing asking for it to be taken off. You maybe dont think badly of people asking for it to be taken off, but people do feel badly about asking, its as simple as that.
Why not leave the prices alone and ask each customer for a 10/15p donation, I hate being coerced into it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
