Because Piza Hut are going to reap all the good publicity when the money is handed over, at minimal cost to themselves. Why can't they knock 15p of each payment they receive and give that instead?
    Excellent reply.

How many people have realised this is going on because this has never been advertised through the media and the only advertising Pizz Hut provides is a small advert which they keep next to the till and not on the tables so that customers have the right to decline if they need to.
    Very dubious legality.

Only 15p for a cup of rice, I just paid £2.55 at the local Chinese.
  • I noticed this on my receipt last week, but not until I got home! We go into Pizza Hut once in a blue moon but when we went in there were no notices of it anywhere to be seen, and it was not mentioned to me AT ALL, as I say I didn't notice until I got home. I wouldn't have asked for it to be refunded as I would have felt A) awkward and B) like a tight git.

It did leave a bad taste though. I do donate to charities regularly and am happy to do this as I feel that even hough I'm feeling the pinch I am still much more fortunate than others. However I like to do this as and when I choose, and like to research where I donate to, what the money is spent on and so on. The way they have gone about it is all wrong IMO.

With the deepest of respect I think we all need to get a grip here

    15p.........................

Are we all so broke/ miserable/tight/uncharitable to consider that it is unacceptable to pay a few pence to people who are starving.:(

It's not just the 15p that they are asking for it's also the frequency of requests that I get. If I gave money to every chugger that I passed I'd have no money left for myself. I choose where and who I donate a percentage of my pre tax salary/wages to via gift aid and I choose not to donate 15p for a cup of rice so that pizza hut can have some free marketing.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Yes its only 15p, but they should ASK not just take.

If when I had asked for my bill, the PH waitress had said 'we are asking our customers if they would like to donate 15p, cup of rice, blah blah blah, would you like to donate?' I would have most likely said "yes", and would have probably upped the amount! It's the way it's being done that I object to.

Its 15p, why let it bother you.

Why even bother posting such a silly comment on a moneysaving site of all places?
