OS Daily Saturday 3rd December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 3rd December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Up at 4 which is a bit early even for me at the weekend, oh well, I'll need a snooze later as we have hubby's christmas do tonight, should be fun, I can see a few drinks will loosen any inhibitions & a brawl will break out. Hubby will not be involved, he is on good terms with everybody.
Work was hell yesterday, we had 2 batches of exams that weren't useable, one had 8 pages missing & one had 3 pages too faint to read, of course as pond scum I was expected to take the blame. I was robust in my defence, there is a hint in my job title, REPROgraphics tech, I REPRODUCE what I'm given. I have been informed by the head that there is to be a full investigation, why bother it will be my fault, I am pond scum.
Right I'm off to make another cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

I,ve been up since 3.30:eek: Bloomin cold is driving me mad, so got up for some lemon and honey - so glad I juiced a load of lemons and froze them a while back:D
WM is on, and will get some paperwork done whilst I have the chance.
Got to do the normal weekend routine of washing, cleaning etc also got to sort the huge pile of meat in my fridge which I bought yesterday, I split it all down into portions then vacume wrap it for the freezer, I might even remember to label it this time :rotfl:
Have a fab day all xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Good Morning x
Hester - you are not pond scum and I'd like to see them manage without you xx
Im awake but not with the world really. I have had a bad week and have not got done any of the things I wanted too. Just as I feel better then I get a bite on the bum to remind me:(:(:(
Well I will try and do my Christmas tree as DS2 bought down all the decorations on Monday and Im inspired by Bitsy xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning Everyone
Been up ages little dog decided I needed a wash at 4am ( only because she wanted me awake to give her a belly rub)
DH has gone already as he is on a course today and both DS's are out for the day today so it will just be DD and me and the dogs at home, so we will do some jobs and then watch a dvd or two
not sure whats for dinner today as I have no idea what time anyone is home but I am sure no-one will starve.
Have a good day all

The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

In my calender - a star :xmassmile
Yesterday's plus points - we now have a snuggly new quilt, big fat comfy pillows, new sheets and curtains that actually fit the window. I can eat from plates that aren't chipped (80p per plate) and drink from a wine glass that is part of a matching set (£2.29 for six - I do like to splash out, lol). I watched the latest Harry Potter film (£3 with a £60 spend, Morrisons).
Not-so-plus points - the cashpoint kept my card (well it tried to give it back to me, the machine was whirring away but the card only poked out about 2mm and I couldn't get hold of it so it sucked it back in) and debited the £200 I asked for but DIDN'T GET  The bank are sorting it out for me. I spilled coffee down my cream coat. I couldn't test my new glasses because the bottle of wine I'd hidden at the bottom of the cupboard has mysteriously vanished. Putting the curtain pole back up, I slipped and dug the screwdriver into my hand. I think all this is payback for my FB celebrations :lipsrseal
I didn't iron the curtains before hanging them, so today I'll take the iron into the lounge and steam them. I also have to hang the other pair at the other end of the room.
I've been running the freezer down so I have room for the Christmas food, suddenly it's been filled up with non-essential rubbish (weren't me) and there's no room for anything. Oh well, it's not like I have the money to buy the food with :rotfl:
I have a bit of sewing to do today. My old green tablecloth is too small for my table, so I bought a red one. I'm going to cut the green one and hem it, hopefully it'll look nice as a runner.

Morning all
Hester - I've worked in schools before, including a bit of your job - we got blamed for EVERYTHING so I do sympathise!
Going to work this morning (littlies to sister-in-law until DH finishes), then quick lunch before helping out with our WI Christmas fair (will be the same 3 or 4 helping out - everyone suddenly remembers prior appts!).
Tea will be jacket pots & beans, kids bathed & to bed, and then I can blitz the hallway & wrap the few presents I've got so far! Weather here is cool & damp, think it might rain, so clothes in TD or on airer. Going to put my flannelette quilt cover on our bed so we'll be snuggly tonight - our forecast says fairly cold tonight.
Have a good day all - hugs & kisses all round, esp as I've probably missed lots of news.

Morning everyone
Cloudy, blustery and wet underfoot although not raining at the moment. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Got that awful telephone call that makes your heart sink to your boots yesterday lunchtime, "please come to school your son's (DS2) had an accident and needs to go to hospital" - fortunately not life threatening - it looks like a broken/fractured bone in left hand, so have to go to fracture clinic on Monday at hospital half hour away - local A & E were excellent and we were seen quickly but it's only open between 8.30am - 4.30pm Mon - Fri - so if you have an accident here you have to do it between those times and on those days!!!
DS2 has been very brave and although he says it hurts - it's not so bad he's needed pain relief, so he managed to get a reasonable night's sleep.:o
Back to OS, I was going along quite nicely until lunchtime yesterday, had been to the bank, done food shopping and was home doing the housework, need to do the ironing mountain this morning, will leave the baking/cooking and can do that early part of next week as I'm on hols. DH's aunt coming over today we're going for a bit of retail therapy then I'm cooking roast later. Need to crack on.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Hi all
Thank you Tru for the carol.
Some lowlife must have watched the postie dropping a couple of parcels over my gate yesterday, they tried to force the gate open but as it has a top bolt they weren't able to get it open fully. The latch is damaged & one parcel was stolen, hubby will repair the latch & fit a bottom bolt too. I have a horrible feeling it was the Barbies I'd won on Ebay for my foster grand daughter that were stolen or it may have been some candle wick or cellophane bags. I shall light a candle later & focus on the thief for a while, I will pray that if he did steal the Barbie dolls that he knows a little girl who will enjoy the dolls when she is given them.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning All.
Hester, sending you some good luck vibes and hoping all your bad luck goes soon. x
Had a lovely wake up this morning; thought it was Friday, and I could have cried, before I realised its Saturday and no work today!!!!
I am trying to finish off my Christmas shopping for my two online just now, and will head out later to pick some parcels up from the PO and Boots, before taking DS1's guitar to be tuned, I don't have the first idea about such things, and DH isn't home until next week. DS wants to finish learning his piece for his lesson on Wednesday, and was quite worried he wouldn't manage. The rest of the weekend will comprise of having a final pre Christmas clearout and cleaning the insides of the windows.
Hugs all round, have a great day.
