Hi - I'm about to apply for a mortgage at the Post Office. I have only just got Experian credit report looking clean after some old debts etc were recorded until recently. However its only Experian thats clear - the other main credit companies are still showing some old defaults.
Does anyone know if the Post Office only use Experian? If so it would mean I could apply in the knowledge I have a good chance of getting the 90% ltv I need. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Mr MoneySavingNotSuchAnExpert, please update Sainsburys' lenders on your table as they actually use all three. After getting nocked for a loan with them I asked why and what agencies they use.....

Don't trust any tables that claim to know what agencies lenders are using!

Best thing for you to do is pull your finger out and do what I'm doing, which is after sorting my Experian out and achieving a 995 score, sort out the other two agencies. Make those glowing like your Experian and then there's no worries or raging when you get rejected! I wouldn't of thought this would take long, 2-3weeks max!

Don't trust scores generated by credit reference agencies they're useless. You could have a 995 score with defaults on file and you would still not get mainstream credit!

Can I just give you a little bit of advice - the 'sticky' at the side which says words to the effect that people should be nice to new MSE'rs, well it kind of works both ways..... You might find that people are nice to new people if they set off on the right foot and by not being unnecessarily aggressive. I hope your loan didn't depend on your manners :(

They might just be saying that so you check with all 3 CRAs.

Natwest/RBS in there decline letters state they use Equifax to preform credit searches, well that is true however they also use Experian but there's no mention of them in the decline letter. In fact they use all three CRAs for reporting purposes. :rotfl:

Plus it does say it was last updated in 2007 lol

Just to note that Tesco is using Credit Expert...

I know it because I just applied for it, it seems that they offered quick low credit..
  • Hi Everyone,

This is my first post in this forum ever. Nice to meet all of you!!

Could I ask which credit check agency does HSBC use? Looking at the outdated link, it was using Experian. Is it still the case?

    Thank you very much.
