Synonymous wrote: »Hello again everyone,
Well I thought I would post, I was shocked to have a CC request to Tesco declined a few weeks ago. Just wondering if anyone can see something I'm missing? As stated above and in my previous posts, my credit searches are well spaced, and for additional info, I have never missed a payment, never been in financial difficulty, and have a reasonable income. I have lived in the same house for 12 years and have been on the electoral role there since I was old enough to vote (6 years).
One of my two credit cards is an AMEX which is completely empty just waiting to claim the cashback on the anniversary, and the other has about £1200 on it as I am slow stoozing the money in a savings account until the 0% on purchases ends.
I've spoken to Tesco who stated in their letter to me that they use Experian, and I am sending them my last three months of bank statements to support my request as suggested by them. I've checked my report with Experian before and there was nothing untoward.
Help!! What is going wrong here?!? I'm scared to try for another credit card now, but want another 0% purchases deal in the next few months when my other one runs out.
Firstly wanted to report back that after sending in my three months of bank statements, Tesco accepted me!
I now have another query: My Tesco card is 0% for 12 months but has a rubbish credit limit of £1700, when you request an increase does this go on your credit record? I've just cancelled my old card (limit £3,600) and my A&L current account (£400 overdraft) on the 27th Oct, so should have freed up some available credit, but is it too early for this to be registered? Don't want to risk asking if it will be rejected but the card is pretty useless now its nearly full!
Thanks in advance! (PS hope its ok to post here, I thought this was for discussion and the other thread was just a list of who uses who?)NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

Some creditors, like Halifax, perform a soft search when you request a credit limit increase.
However all credit card companies require you to have been with them for at least six months before they will even consider you for a limit increase.
I wouldn't even bother asking until after you've received your sixth statement, until then, it will be a flat refusal I'm afraidCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks izools for you reply back in November
I'm now at a point where I have received six statements from Tesco and I had a look at their bit on the internet where you can request a higher credit limit. It asks for my gross salary and the credit limit I would like. I really don't know how much it is best to ask for, I would say at least a £4k limit. Would this be reasonable? Also my salary has gone up approx £7k since I applied for the card. If they think this is too much, will they reject it totally, or just suggest a lower amount?
Thanks in advance for any advice guys, and if I'm asking in the wrong place, could someone point me in the right direction please?NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

I'm surprised the original article ('Credit Reference Agencies - Who uses who?') is still up and completely unchanged.
Just a warning that the article is out of date and inaccurate.

I know that I can get credit with loan companies who use experian but cannot with companies wh use equifax so coming across this charton google was useful for me. I was sceptical about it as it is attached to this website as most thing on here are a waste of time......... I was right the chart is rubbish, all the companies listed as only using experian actually used both when they credit searched, I have damaged my credit rating by trusting this information, so I would advise you not to.0

Care to expand on your rant?
You should have used this one

Remember though that the information you put down on your loan application could influence which CRA is searched.0 -
