Credit Reference Agencies - who uses who discussion

All I can tell you is they definitely searched Equifax only for mine - I have access to Experian too and it's not on there. Also, they called me to double check electoral roll info as we moved recently and the woman actually said they check Equifax.
As for my file - about 10 defaults back in 2003 before the trust deed kicked in. Some of them showing up to 6 months late payments. Plus the TD is still on my file so all in all, I considered myself very lucky to get a Vanquis card 18 months ago..
Just seems like Tesco might be worth a try - I've rebuilt clean credit over the last year but with all that still on my file most lenders wouldn't consider me at all.
Yes. They definitely search EQ only. At least for now0 -
Having read the original webpage and this entire thread, it seems the table of which credit providers use which credit agencies is out of date and needs to be updated. I'm inclined not to trust it much. Can any moneysaver help with updates? Perhaps someone with some inside info..?
Failing that, I'm looking for a balance transfer credit card and I have a CCJ showing on Equifax but not on my Experian records, so i'm likely to be much more successful applying to a card provider which uses only Experian. Can anyone help? Perhaps someone's been in a smilar situation recently?
Thanks in advance.0 -
You are the reversal of most people. Most desire lenders that search EQ only.
In your case, i can assure you that majority of the CC providers search EX only0 -

Hi All. Looking for some expert advice.
I recently checked my experian credit score which is currently 805. Is this a good score? I have two defaults on my report one with egg from 4 years ago and another with capital one again four years ago which is currently £125 and I will have this cleared this month.
I am hoping to go for a mortgage in the next year and was wondering how this could be effected?
Advise would be much appreciated
Thanks0 -

Hi, hope this is the right place...
I was just wondering, how many credit checks is too many in any period of time, and what constitutes a full check?
I have opened:
August 2008 - Current account with 0% overdraft
Sept 2008 - Credit card
Feb 2009 - Credit card
May 2009 - ISA and two savings accounts (shouldn't matter as not credit right?)
May 2009 - current account, no arranged overdraft. (will this be checked?)
Are these reasonably spread out? I'll be looking for a new CC in June to replace cashback card, will this be too soon for a credit check? I'm not in debt and pay my cards off fully at the moment, although plan to slow stooze my purchases from now on.NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

Hi
Your applications looked well spaced out. There's nothing to suggest that you are struggling or are desperate for credit.
The ISA and savings accounts will not be credit searched, you may just have an 'enquiry' search to verify your ID. The current account - even with no overdraft - will almost certainly be credit searched.
Like I say, your searches seem to be OK but there are many other factors that will be considered, for example your available credit, current balances, repayment history etc.
Best of luck.
