Hello, I want to start to buy some snacks/nice food ready for Christmas time and was just wondering what people like to buy in general for xmas and if people buy things that they wouldn't usually buy at any other time of year.
I usually buy pringles, dips etc but I fancy getting some different things this year. Any thoughts/ideas?

Bread and cheese and whisky for Xmas.
Got the Glenfiddich just waiting on a cheese glitch.0 -
My dad does all the big food shopping for Christmas because we all pile over to his.
He always does us smoked salmon canapes (just really on sliced bread with a bit of butter and pepper/lemon). He'll also buy lots of nibbles - bombay mix, nuts etc. Same with chocolates - we have tonnes at Christmas!
Lots of crisps and dips.
Dates!
Lots of finger food as he does a buffet type meal on boxing day rather than a big meal again - so little filo pastry parcels, sausage rolls, samosas, bhajis etc etc.0 -
Well there's the usual Quality Streets and HP Salted Peanuts and Diet Coke.
Apart from them it can vary. Although I wont be buying much rubbish this year, trying to save money/not put on weight. I will be having a nice big Christmas dinner though!0 -
Cheese footballs for me, its the only time you can buy them nowadays, have 6 tubs stored upstairs to last me through them going out of date.0

Stuff I buy at Christmas but not really at any other time of the year:
Big tubs of chocolates; Matchmakers; choc orange
Party food / canape type things
Different types of cheeses and crackers / biscuits
Chocolate biscuits, shortbread
Pate
Baileys
Pringles / Sensations / other sharing crisps
Breadsticks & dips0 -
I buy a selection of crackers and cheeses, tin of roses, after 8s, pringles, nuts in shells, and I make my special steamed sponge with summer fruits cause no one in our house likes Xmas pud!0

Being vegan, I tend to stick to basic grains, beans, fruits and veg through the year (with the odd "luxury" item like burgers etc), but Christmas is the time that the local wholefood shop gets raided for vegan cheeses and imported sausage type items.
Other than that, my main outlay is for choccies and booze :-D****2012 wins****
Nisa Premier League football shirt; Capital FM Alan Carr DVD; Royal Stafford cheese plate0
