We travel to Lanzarote quiet often.
Spar is by far the cheapest supermarket that we found.Avoid Netto if you can.... cheap for sun creams too... thier aftersun is dirt cheap, and smells divine.
We usually allow abt 20 euros, for a cab, and just pick one up at the airport... even high season, you only wait a few minutes (or rather we did).
The is a great bar called the Jug and Platter, that do a qiz a couple of times a week.. you can win £30 eoros, so worth Joining in..Its run by a lovely English Couple.
Also a brilliant bar for entertainment is the Splash bar, down by the beach...do lovely food too. As is Ryans bar if you like Karoake.
You have to visit the Punta Jablillo beach (spelling?)..if you take a few peices of bread into the water, the fish swim up to you.. they are lovely to see. great for snorkelling...so if you have one take it with you.
Also be very wary you burn even when it is not sunny!!, the mild breeze makes the rays penetrate..so be careful.
The hotel you are booked into is a perfect location for everything.

Be very wary also, of baggage restictions on weight... we were charged £45 euros exceess coming back last year...and I swear, we had hardly anything extra going back.

Ps if you are a smoker... Netto sell 200 Progress for abt 6 euros...yes 6!!!
I have smoked them there and brought them home, and they have been great..
I am now a non smoker though!!!...so no good to me now lol.

I have booked this holiday too for myself and 2 kids, on the Thurs. Any suggestions for getting to Newcastle the taxis are charging a bomb.I have no car

The metro stops at the airport, you can get it near the train station, or the bus station http://urbanrail.net/eu/new/newcstle.htm

thanks for that , but the train isnt really good for our return as its late. Single mum with 2 kids ( a bit scarey)

oh no ive only just seen this.

We need to set off at 8am in the morning as we are traveling from east yorkshire, so we wouldn't get it in time.

I just wanted to say thankyou for everybodys help and also the kind offers of suncream(although i was too late to accept them).

I have a notebook crammed with ideas for food shopping, beaches, places to eat and days out ect. What a wonderful week we will have.

Friday(our first full day) and Wednesday(our last full day) are forecast rain. We are taking playing cards and travel sized games to keep us amused and will probably also use these days to pack/unpack and look in shops. At least this way we make the best of every moment of sunshine.

I am going out to get suncream and euros later. Have been rushing around like a maniac. Just having a well earned cuppa.

How many others are going to be at Newcastle airport? What time are you aiming to arrive at the airport? Does anyone know where abouts the desk is that we collect our tickets from when we get there?

for all those who haven't booked their car parking yet call (0191) 2144341 and ask for the Winter special 1 week car parking. I JUST booked and can confirm that this price(as advertised on a banner on the airport website) is correct.
