Fsecure here on my XP box, also on Mothers and In-Laws. They sell a nice cheap 3 license version.

I downloaded pervx 2.0 the other day and its just told me my licence has expired, did i not click on the link for free pervx, pervx is free right, ive got a router myself so would that come with any protection

Hello - I have not looked at this thread for some time and have not had any security problem so far !!! But, I wonder whether one of the techies could publish an up-to-date list of the best FREE Security downloads available. This would be a big help to newbies and als myself as I am about to change my computer. Currently using Sygate Personal Firewall- AdAware SE, Symantec Anti-virus (a freebie from a friend) & Spyware Blaster.

I was subscribing to Norton but after reading through the numerous topics on these forums, I ditched Norton (it was really slowing things down and I've never been particularly confident in it)
I am using Firefox with AVG Anti Virus Free Edition, AVG Anti Spyware, Spybot Search & Destroy, the free Zone Alarms Firewall plus ccleaner on my laptop at the moment.

Ad-aware won't update. I get an "Error retrieving update" message. Any thoughts on this as the updates are 17 days old.

This thread is getting a bit big now, but I've been recommending "The Best 46 Free Utilities" for a while now, as they provide a list of the best freeware in a variety of categories. It's well worth subscribing to their newletter too.

I have just down loaded the free AVG anti virus and anti spyware via the link from this site and just backed it up with a free Firewall from Ashampoo.

I had problems with the Norton Package that came with My BT internet. It slowed down my PC and let a trojen in. Think we have got it sorted now:j
