Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.
Morning ALL, hope you're all keeping well and saving. where possible.

Great news of a super start, nows the time!
Sue-uu weren't those sketches brilliant. We must have a similar sense of humour :rotfl:Is it a good thing?

Yes little_sweetie, we're both warped!!! A good thing or not? We'll discuss that over the fence Cissie & Ada style. :rotfl:I'm mad don't know about you.,,,on 2nd thought, yes I do!! :rotfl:

I have been on a bit of a roll this last week :T. Popped the change from yesterday's shop into the pot (£1.65) and have another £3 to add today. The pot is starting to jingle nicely!!

Happy potting everyone and keep up the good work. You are all such an inspiration.

Brilliant saving, Susanne!, I think we all inspire each other to do the best we can, so you too are an inspiration!

I'm just trying to save full stop, samtoby. OH and I were both made redundant within 2 years of each other, OH only works 14 hours a week (can't find anything else and no overtime offered...he's 62 :( ) and I have had to take enforced retirement. Our income has dropped to a third of what it was 5 years ago and although we don't have a mortgage we only just manage to cover our bills plus a bit of spending money for OH. (We don't claim any benefits, by the way, other than my state pension) We do have a car...our bit of luxury :o and short UK holidays when we can manage it. Anything I save will be going into a savings account for a rainy day. This forum has cheered me up no end :) I love the banter and cameraderie!

That's the spirit, little_sweetie! Though what a huge difference in wages!!!! Thank goodness for your e-bay income now and then! Happy saving and keep enjoying the banter throughout MSE, a terrific place, thanks Martin!

Hi samtoby, hubby & I save for Christmas and for holidays, though we haven't had a holiday for 2 years. I have a pot (given by family members) for each denomination of change and try to 'feed' as often as possible, but have 6 NSDs a week which doesn't help.

2p roadkill in the pot, when DH & I went for a walk yeterday! :D

Thanks a lot, Kerry, everyone else too, it's a joy to see.
Stay safe everyone, see you later.
    Sue x

Are people saving for something in particular for their pots? Or just to see what they can save?x

I save mine for Christmas shopping. I have usually done most of my shopping by the time we open the pots but it comes in handy as last minute bits and bobs soon add up! :)

My pot is nearly full :D I put any spare change in, no notes as I don't want to damage my pot getting them out! It is really heavy now, will have to start thinking about another pot  I've never done that before

I save for something specific each year. This year it's a new bike as I want to get fit and healthy and stop using the car so much.
£1 gone in today so that's going towards a spoke:rotfl:

Welcome to all the newbies. Happy saving:)

Hi samtoby, I guess it's a bit of both for me. I'd like to save enough for a new ballroom dress (my dancing teacher keeps dropping hints about it, but I think I've shut him up by saying that I'm saving up for one!) and the challenge means I'm doing it without feeling guilty that I'm eating into my other savings (which are earmarked for car maintenance/insurance/road tax (yawn yawn) and saving up a deposit (as I want to buy a place with OH)).

I'm saving for Christmas because the last one was a bit tight and January was soooo long this year. I've banked £100 already which is pretty amazing :j I made some money from sales while decluttering but that's tailed off now.

I've noticed quite a lot of people mention they get a set amount from the bank every week and pot what's left - how do you do that, i.e. what rules have you made for yourselves? Is it pocket money or does it include groceries, petrol etc.? I'd like to try it but I don't know how much to get out and what to include?

    Thanks

I managed to throw a handful of loose change in and I know there were 2 £2 coins and some silver. I don't throw in coppers as they take up valuable space. I'm hoping to move at the end of this year so my coin clutter will very likely go towards a nice big mortgage overpayment, but I'll decide exactly what I want to use it for nearer the time as I'll just keep changing my mind until I open the pot.

I also get paid tomorrow and I know I have around £24 unused just waiting for a permanent saving home.
