I've noticed quite a lot of people mention they get a set amount from the bank every week and pot what's left - how do you do that, i.e. what rules have you made for yourselves? Is it pocket money or does it include groceries, petrol etc.? I'd like to try it but I don't know how much to get out and what to include?
Thanks
Rx
I have my own mad rules for this. I move an amount into our joint account on payday which covers mortgage and bills. Hubby does the same. Then what i have left in my account is for my DD, loan and CC and a small amount of savings. Then i set £160 for petrol, between £150 and £170 for groceries, which for me is all food, toiletries and bunny stuff. Then i work out what i know i have planned for the month and divide the money i have left accordingly as a weekly pocket money type thing.
The money i have left from my weekly budget is potted weekly, then anything left from petrol and groceries is potted monthly... like that has ever happened. :rotfl:
If that makes sense, not that i am obsessive about knowing where every penny goes.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

Thanks for that, it makes perfect sense! I think I'm going to start mine off with pocket money. I have to stop at asda twice a week so I could do all my shopping there now instead of online in which case I could use cash, I think it would make me think harder about what I'm spending! IYSWIM. I'm not very lucid tonight.
Anyway thanks for that, and little_sweetie for your thoughts too.
I've never met such a lovely friendly helpful group of people before
