Huh? wide of the mark. (and its leg innit?)
seems reasonable to me....if work is averaged ''most''people will work averagely some will be less hard working than average and some will be hardworking..0 -

Some will work and get paid by the hour, others will employ people and leverage their time by paying them by the hour. Those in the later category usually end up making most of the money and having more free time to do what they want to do, wilst chaining their staff to their desks by a ball and chain.
You only have to look at the big bosses of the world to see that's how it works. You're not telling me someone on £250,000+ year works harder than someone who makes less than £25,000 for 80 hour weeks. They are just leveriging other peoples time and working smarter, if you can call it that0 -

I used to be a teacher but then I quit my job (right at the end of the summer holidays of course) to post nonsensical and stereotypical diatribes on the internet all day as I realised there weren't enough people doing that already.0 -

No, you are right, I'm not telling you that. Personally, I'm not discussing salary at all....which might be why people are confused by some of us raising an eyebrow at ''hard working family'' phrase. You can be hard working and not earn a bean, or lazy and loaded. But the majority of people work only averagely hard.
This might be flogging a dead horse....0 -

Most people on 250k work harder than most people on 25k. There are no doubt exceptions but if you believe that in general people get paid 250k for working 9 to 5, or that most people on £25k are working 80 hour weeks then you are living in cloud cuckoo land.0 -
If they had a strike every 2 weeks it would save 10% of the wage bill.0

Have you seen the latest figures, over £12,000 public sector workers will retire on pensions of £100k per annum, and the average teacher's pension is £25k per annum.
A normal hard working individual would have to amass a total fund of over £500,000 to secure a £25,000 pa pension.
The Country cannot afford to subsidise the public sector workers pensions anymore, unless of course we want to end up like Greece.
The only poll I seen regarding support for the strikes suggests the majority were in favour of them. As for hard working it seems a fair few on here manage to post throughout the day on here so I wonder how many actual hard working people there are? My wifes a teacher is lucky to get 30 mins due the day to eat something let alone spend a fair amount of the day surfing the net as many seem to do.0 -
I haven't read the thread because I'm watching Channel4 news
Channel4 news is showing consecutive reports, the first of which ridicules the reaction to Clarkson's comments, and the second of which reports the continuing harrassment of John Terry over his racist remarks
I shall read the thread from beginning to end after 8pm
TruckerTAccording to Clapton, I am a totally ignorant idiot.0
