Well done be strong on the chocolate front. I'm attempting to damage limit any more weight gain in the next few weeks, once I got my appetite back after the first 14 weeks I've been on a non-stop munch ever since...not excellent news for the figure!!!

Ooh the comfort sounds good and dettol spray - thanks for the tip - was it one of your eBay coupons for the comfort or from the coupon thread?

Glad Mini-MSE is doing well, I guess she is out of newborn clothes now? I can't believe how tiny the newborn clothes are!
  • The coupons were from Bounty packs. On ebay someone was selling ten vouchers to collect bounty packs from Boots or Superdrug. Inside the packs are cuddle towels with sachets of persil and comfort with money off coupons as well. There is a pack of dettol wipes and coupons for the spray and wipes too! You get a mini sudocrem as well :p
I ordered the vouchers as I thought there was a £2 off pampers in the pack but I think they have updated the contents recently. Still good stuff though!

MiniMSE is in newborn at the mo, she has outgrown the tiny baby clothes which is a bit sad! She's growing so fast! There was some lovely things that people have bought us but not been worn very much.

My MOC savings from coop have been added to the MOC total.
Slow progress is better than no progress.
  • Used a couple more coupons today, added £1.75 to the MOC total.

I had a nice day today making a hamper for my friend who is having her baby in a couple of weeks. We are all having lunch tomorrow and I will present her with it then!

It's a new mum survival kit.

Chocolate and Anusol - everything a new mother needs :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • The hamper was a big success! I'm a bit annoyed with myself as I missed a trick at lunch. Quite a few people paid cash, which came to about £175. I should have kept the cash and put it on my Nectar card to help me get to the £1k and the 10,000 points. Grrr.

Used another £1.75 of coupons, added to sig.

  • Forgot to put on here about my master plan for my mobile!

I have a rubbish HTC wildfire at the moment, which I will have had for two years when I can have an upgrade at xmas. BUT I have just bought a PAYG handset for £20 (£10 cashback) to use instead. I have a brilliant contract at £5 a month, so will keep that and get a free handset. I will sell the new upgrade handset and my HTC (worth about £20) to get some cash for the overpayment pot!

  • DH found a good deal on groupon on Saturday for Phillips Sonicare toothbrush heads- 60% off. So £19.99 for 6 instead of £49.99, just needed to pay postage of £3.95. Bargain!

I know it has been mentioned before how non-MSEs seem a bit confused/disinterested with money saving exploits! I was trying to tell my friends about my coupons yesterday, ie) comfort for 35p instead of £1.00 (was £2.20 full price) and Dettol spray for 9p instead of £1.09 (was £2.19 full price) But they weren't that impressed, turned their noses up in fact! How strange, I am telling them about free money and they don't want it!

Don't expect to find too many converts - you can't force people to be interested in thriftiness, but you will find the odd person who comes around to it in their own time.

Convincing people that you need to 'buy x product from x shop at x time of year' or you're a bad person is a multi-billion industry! :rotfl:

There are also some people who genuinely seem to think that it's demeaning to get a deal on basics such as household items, as if they're lowering themselves by thinking about it. Which is madness, because who the heck wants to pay more for something to clean grease off a worktop than they need to?

The same sorts of people will often be found bragging about how they've saved £200 off whatever consumer gadget is hot right now, but for some reason can't see the value of knocking small but consistent amounts of the household purchases they need to make *every* month.

There's nowt so queer as folk...
  • Had an email today from asda about their Christmas club. If I save £144 with them, they will top it up to £150 for me. I need to look into it but that sounds like free money to me!

  • Hiya, I'm going to look at that as well. Pretty certain, from memory, you could bung the money in, one one go in Oct or Nov and still qualify. Thinking about it, I recall Morries doing something similar.

I'll go and investigate as we'll. Thanks for the reminder
