Lunch time for me too. Working from home today so washing done, SC on and last nights food delivery all portioned up and in the fridge/freezer/ Freezer is full of tasty bits and shouldn't need to spend too much more to feed myself this month. Haven't done so much work :rotfl:but got the rest of the afternoon for that then out tonight and day off tomorrow.

Souk - sometimes you need to do this stuff when you're working from home, and it takes the pressure off. As long as the work gets done, it doesn't really matter when you do it!

Talking of which, I must stop faffing about on the web, get some logs in, get lunch (think it'll be a shake as I CBA to do anything else) and work out what tobget my SIL for Christmas.

DS2 has just spent the afternoon playing with a set of Gold Babushka dolls that DS1 got for Christmas about 3 years ago. They have been everything from Transformers to Mary, Joseph and the Baby ..... he has got such a cracking wee imagination.

I am writing quietly on the computer trying not to disturb him - but secretly ear-wigging anyway LOL

I've been fairly productive today but need to make dinner and finish preparing the Christmas pudding. I'm going to have to sit down with OH and show him our figures for spending. I don't think he's really grasped what I'm trying to do.

What a day. got up this morning to Jack Frost everywhere, but it gradually melted and started raining. Now its ten to four and its grey dark and pouring with rain, but my Christmas tree is up (I will not listen to bah humbug lol) and the lights look beautiful. This time last year it was blowing a blizzard, and we are forecast locally for 3 cms of snow over the weekend.
I am going to try and have a good one regardless of the weather. Have a good weekend, all Matrix members and lurkers and Newbies whatever you are doing xx

    Fantasia322 I was born in Fife :)

No tree or decorations here yet. We've got builders coming in a fortnight to rebuild most of our kitchen, replaster and decorate our living/dining room, so will wait until they're gone before the halls are decked.

I'm trying to find a nice way of saying NO to MIL. She wants us to take DS to some Christmassy thing or other. I think he's too young to appreciate it (not quite 2) and it's expensive. £7 for adults and £5 for children, plus an extra £1 to see Father Christmas = £20 for us. I'm sure she'd love to be there with her whole family but I think it's a waste of money this year. I feel bad though.

  • Well. a productive day. I think I have now made all my Christmas cards. a couple of late December birthdays to make next week though, I have located and wrapped most of the presents I had bought, but need to get a bit more wrapping paper tomorrow to finish off and while I was doing this I found enough facecream, and body butter to last nearly all next year. A favourite treat for me is lovely facecream and DH and DS get it me for birthdays and Christmas but I will have to tell them not to bother this year. Has an unopened shelf life of 3 years but think I want to clear the decks and perhaps use all I have before stocking up again.

We are painting DS room tomorrow then the carpet that has been sitting on the landing for a couple of weeks can go down, then perhaps I might start to feel like getting the house lovely for Christmas.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Busy looking after 30 students from uni today as they found out about school and whether teaching was for them or not. Was in early and very positive about the whole thing and it went like a dream. They were impressed, staff were impressed, boss was impressed and I now have a slightly smug expression knowing there are only 10 working days left till hols. Unfortunately dh has to work part of Christmas day and dd isn't taking it well so we are going to get our pj's on later and plan what we want to do on the days he is off to cheer her up.

I have done some work today (mostly filing...) and also managed to get a whole lot of presents wrapped during a meeting. The stove is lit as it's COLD here. I think I might find a glass of wine and see whether I can get the remaining presents wrapped and out of the way.

Actually... If I start putting up some decorations this weekend it will help me to get the study cleared for the electrician (who is booked for next Friday :))

And on Monday I MUST book to get the utility room finished before Christmas...

ETA - I've managed to do most of my wrapping using up old bits and pieces of paper (it's always good not to buy big presents, then you can use up the odds and ends and reuse stuff that was used for big presents before...) and nice ribbons saved from previous years (and even from smart carrier bags :o) so as well as not spending, I'm reducing clutter. Lots of presents have been sourced from my ever expanding present drawer, so that will free up space too.

If I hadn't had wrapping paper I'd thought about using newspaper and garden string... I might try it next year!
