I'm already there MG, (insert smug smilie :D ) went yesterday to the travel clinic to stock up on Anti-Malarials for Popeye's weekly trips to malaria country. Wanted to talk about not being continually on these v powerful drugs and they've agreed that when he's in the capital, staying in an air-conditioned hotel as long as he takes anti-biting precautions and watches carefully for symptoms he doesn't need to take them :j However buying enough for 2 trips into the countryside cost over £100

I got my Ibuprofen (for arthritus) at the weekend :D I hate waking up in the middle of the night needing a drink/pain relief/a wee anyway, but it is worse if I wake up in pain and realise that there is no painkiller :( I sometimes think I stock up too much though......do they have a shelf life?

Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies, they are appreciated.
I have managed to get 4 cards done that need to go in the post so that is great.

And now rather than fall asleep in front of the computer, I am going to go to bed at a decent hour, as we have to be up early tomorrow. I may start being an adult yet:eek::eek::eek:

Deadline day for me today, so got to go through this huge essay once more from the top and also do my references properly. I am trying (for my Springboard course) not to make negative judgements about myself. Normally I would be having kittens about what my supervisors are going to think, because the essay is crap for x, y and z reasons (repeat 80 times before meeting on 13th).

Today I am going to try and think "Well done for achieving your aim of writing a draft chapter. Of course it will require further work but don't prejudge what your supervisors are going to say about it". Hopefully I will only need to repeat that x 5, I would like some room in this old head of mine to just enjoy everyday life a bit more.

I am so looking forward to a whole weekend off, haven't had one for about 6 weeks now. Treat dinner (wedding present) is tomorrow afternoon!

Welcome everyone who has joined us lately

Mmmmmm!!! Do you think tradesmen "take advantage" when they come in and its a woman?

Been having problems with television reception since high winds last weekend. Last night (very still night) the reception still conked out at 8 ish when the freeze set in - so I am thinking the wind has shoogled everything and there is water in a joint that is freezing and knocking out reception.

Three people phoned to look at issue - two quoted me over £200 for new Ariel set-up (one without even coming out to look at the issue, the third (recommended by framer downstairs) £40 plus vat to re-cable the existing Ariel as it is!!!

Mmmm!!! wonder which one I will be using and recommending??? The one offering a real service or one fleecing customers by insisting on brand new re-fit?

Makes me so mad that people don't fix stuff these days.

    Off my soap box now:rotfl:

It's not just women MG... They'll try it on with anyone. I always find the sign of a good tradesman is when they actually listen to what you want, discuss the options, explain, and you end up working with them to agree the solution... Rarely the cheapest, but usually the best value and least hassle...

Slowly working through work email backlog. Have updated my satnav and am sorting out my personal emails and archiving them (a major job, but I don't often get my personal laptop out and upload them as I generally use my work one and an iPad).

Have posted of another box of books, so there's only one left to take to the post office next week. I have three bags tagged for the charity shop (so they can claim gift aid and I can claim the donation against tax :D) to drop off tomorrow. And the final bits of the last curtain pole are now painted, so I really, really need someone to help me put it and three floating shelves up so I can move on to the next step in decluttering.

100m of Cat5e network cable is here, as are two of the four sockets I need. OH is supposed to be sorting phone cable and sockets, so I just need to work out exactly where we want them before the electrician comes back.

Then I need to make another call to get the utility room finished and the garden put to bed tidily.

Christmas presents are all pretty much sorted. Wrapping could possibly start tonight... Cards are all sent. Tax return not done, but I suppose I need my brain for that!

Need to pay for my ironing... And get some logs in as it's getting chilly (might burn some coal tonight for a change as the bin is just a little too full). For those that have fires, ashes are a good (if messy) thing to mix with salt for gritting paths. Coal ashes are grittier than wood ashes which is why they're not so good in the garden.

    Suppose I should find lunch...
