Good Morning Matrix, and Happy New Year to you all.
Had a fabby time with my godson and his family. It is his birthday today, but he was able to open his pressies yesterday cos we were there... and his reaction to them was "Oh wow...totally awesome!" Very happy with that from a now 5 year old!!
Managed to finish my latest baby blanket for a lady at work. One day ahead of schedule. It is knitted and crocheted, and I taught myself to knit to do this blanket. I am very, very pleased with the result. It was so lovely and warm as I was crocheting it all together. Have already started on my next knitting project (which is either going to be a birthday present or a Christmas Present for someone in 2012!)
I don't know about anyone else, but for some reason, I really feel positive about this year and where it might take us. It is certainly against the flow of news etc... but I really feel that the Matrix as a whole, and us all individually, are going to have an amazing year!
Lots of love to you all... as I am back at work tomorrow, my internet usage is going to be patchy at best. I shall try and participate when I can... but it might be tricky."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
I agree with your crickett - talk about us being contra cyclical?? The thing is we have already thrived through the first round of the recession. Between us all we have a full suite of skills to see us through this next and probably more prolonged bout)
Here is a great place to start - to look at your numbers, to get your money scales to balance and to start tipping the scales in your favour. Using all the skills that we talk about on here to get out of debt in a quite conservative but steady manner. New habits after a light-bulb moment.
At that point (the DFW point) I was stumped - actually what it took was a conversation with my Mum over the Christmas period where she referred to me as having an "extraordinary world-view" This has resulted in another Light-bulb moment where I can see very clearly where I want my life to go over the next few years before DS2 goes to school.
I will be paying down my mortgage (but bear in mind I have an Offset account and I have the double bonus of it being the best place (interest rate wise) to save my money and still have instant access to every penny. When the markets change and I can beat the savings in ISA's etc I shall take my little amount and save it there.
This will enable me to build a cushion against interest rate rises, have a fantastic emergency fund and a touch of security for the boys whilst I concentrate on the "raising my income" part of the equation. This is the bit I was going around and around about - but things are now much, much clearer.
So with a positive spring in my step - off go to do my big Frog of the day ............... that no longer seems quite so icky - just a step on the way to the life I want to craft for my lovely boys.

So true, Crickett and MG. We're a great bunch and together we are stronger.
Loving today's message, "Give Yourself a Dream" at greatday.com. Good food to reflect on whilst I tackle the 4 Michael McIntyre drawers in the kitchen - too small to be really useful, so they've filled up over the years with assorted carp.
Just looked outside - first snow of 2012 is falling! If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Loved it! Several of my favourite series are coming back at the moment and this is certainly not far from the top of the list0 -
Ha! Procrastinated - drawers next - but an interesting article on Ellen McArthur, who dreamed (and saved) from an early age - and she's a frugalite! If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Good morning matrix and a happy new year to all!
This is a bit confusing. I'm back as 'dirtyepic' which is the old me, I'm writing this on my phone and that's still logged in as the old name so, for now, I'm staying with it!
I've had an amazing time over the Christmas holidays, for wholly personal, self-esteem and awareness reasons only.
I now can take on board that anything is possible with the right mindset, planning, preparation, determination, control and confidence. At this moment I am well on my way to achieving all of these, in fact, I've already achieved some of them and I am looking forward to cracking on with 2012. I now think I am quite prepared to take on the many challenges that will becoming my way, either the challenges I set for myself or the ones that are out of my control.
So thanks again all who have helped me along the way. Every single post on the threads have been read and digested. Some issues I can help with, some I need help with, some I really don't understand but appreciate the opportunity to be involved or included.
So, onwards and upwards again! Baby steps all the way - its better to get there eventually than giving up and not getting there at all.
Good luck with 2012 everyone. It's all about good teamwork eh?DEBT FREE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2015 :beer::beer:0 -
Great plans of mice & men huh????
Woke up this morning to no hot water - combi boiler has died overnight & it's froznig nere. Just waiting on the gas man to come & make it all better (glad I took out that central heating repair policy thing).
And DH is at work - guess what - their heating has broken down too.
So today I can't go out - so will light the fire & then de-Christmas the house back to normality.
It's actually nice knowing that you can't go outside until 6pm (gas man might still come up to then) becasue I have heat, food & drink........sadly it looks like I might also have snow - the sky is really dark
But why o why does Tora want to sit inside but has to have the back door open......Debts 07/12/2021
