    Morning All

I see from FB that Squilly-Diddly has a birthday today, not sure if she still reads, but :bdaycake: to her and anyone else celebrating.

Got visitors for lunch so had better go and hide the flutters.

BM now bleeping, so better go.

(((hugs))), spoons, etc., all round. Take care DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Good Morning Chums ,
brr its a chilly one this morning .DD has the day off so I was let off the school run this morning.two of the boys had school but the one in the seniors didn't and his older brother has to go in as he has some 'mocks' to do today and the invigilator isn't on strike.
DD is coming round leter to put up my decorations for me I live in an older property and the ceilings are 9ft high and I just don't do standing on chairs at my age not a good career move as I don't 'bounce' if I fall ,just break things :):)
Yesterday I stuck my head around the door of my local tescos to pick up a set of clip lidded boxes for my DD that i had bought for myself last week They are brilliant a set of three which will hold lots of stuff for inside the cupboards .I was dumbfounded to find that what I had paid for last week £1.75 (very reasonable for a set of three smallish lidded boxes, lock 'n'lock type) had shot up to £7.50.Even the check out girl couldn't believe the increase .Needless to say they went back on the shelf.Moral of this tale if you see a bargain snaffle it up quick.
I have just had a strange conversation with EDF .They apparently have changed their billing system to sending out a bill once a year instead of every quarter.I gave them my reading a fortnight ago online and expected my bill any day now.It seems that in future they will want a reading every six months and the customer will get a bill once a year. They will adjust the D/D to cover the bill when they want irespective of what the customer wants I am not happy with this as I like to plan my outgoings by the month and not 6 months .At my age 6 months a lot can happen in that time .Has anyone else found this odd.I feel its a cost cutting excercise to save EFD money but maybe thats me being a bit cynical.I plan all my outgoings by the month so if I have a good month I can put my cash where I want to and if I have a lean one I can draw on my back up cash.I am at to moment £340 in credit with gas and electric which is good as the winter is on its way but I would hate to suddenly have a huge bill next year that I hadn't planned for, or is it me just being daft..
Well time to get the coffee on, have a good one what ever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xx

    Hi all,

I,m off on strike today too, looking after the kids as they are off as well.
Like other,s, it was a difficult descision, loss of a days pay this time of year is hard, but needs to be done.

Will catch up around the house today, and wrap some presents, Shepards Pie for dinner, need to pick up some basic shopping, need to keep it to a minimum though as I am including christmas food in December,s budget.

Hope your all well, and have a fab day xx

No, you're not being daft; E-on have recently emailed us (we've agreed to do their customer surveys) to sound us out on some very strange proposed changes to their D/D system, which would mean the customer having to sit down and do the sums to work out what we should be paying! Of course, as the "finance bod" in this household, I said that I think that idea stinks. I agree - they're trying to cut their admin costs. Either that, or they're making the billing system so complicated that the poor old customer doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of understanding what they're paying for.:D

  • Morning everyone.

Kids school is open, off to the woods with DD this afternoon. DS highly excited at the thought of one more sleep til the Christmas tree goes up! Just cooked a chicken in the remoska :) Bit overdone but just getting used to the cooking times etc. Still very happy with it so far :)

Makeshift for tea as it's tap tonight.

    Hugs and spoons all round.

    Afternoon all!
Have done 2 visits to aunty, and just back from Aldi and Mr M, isn't it amazing how the kids being out of school for a day brings out "the best" in some- lost count of the number of young females shouting, bawling and threatening their kids! On the other hand, there was a guy with 2 kids about 7 or 8 in front of me at the till in Mr M excitedly buying stuff to bake cookies for mum coming home from work.
Apparently the demonstrations in the city centre are huge, glad I avoided as the streets will be at a standstill, and roads etc still not back to normal after the weathers problems yesterday!
    Have a good day all.
Oh, BB well done you!:T How did you manage that???

Hi all-hope all is well,Ive missed reading over a few days as Ive needed to be on lappie for other things. We have accepted the offer on our house so I was looking for somewhere for us-Ive got square eyes now as my Mum used to say :D Sick of looking on right move.Anyway, went to look at one at the weekend which was in a lovely spot, but needed too much doing for the price it is,then yesterday spotted another-rang up to view and they could do it the same day.
We've put an offer in-the first we made was turned down,so waiting to hear from EA if our higher offer is acceptable. This also needs quite a bit of work, but is a lot cheaper as its on a main road, but there are open fields at the back so we wont feel too hemmed in if we get it.Our mortgage would be smaller, though I'm not sure what the monthly payments would be yet.
We had to go to the EA to sign a form with our offer,so DH took the opportunity to go to his accountants, and book an eye test while we were in town-Ive been nagging him for ages about that.

There hasnt been too much OS going on while weve been house hunting ( bought pizza yesterday:eek:),but I made some b'nut squash soup when we got home, and just stuck a loaf in the bm.Got a ys moussaka for tea,so just going to have a tidy up now.

Jools-I saw one woman in Primarni shouting at the top of her voice at her little girl because she was crying, she literally dragged her across the shop floor, and she was in such a rage :( I know Mums can reach the end of their tether, but it was absolutely horrible to watch & everyone was staring.

BBird -:j:j on your win, well done.
Beth- hope you are ok,sending my best wishes & posi vibes xxx
