LM - Good luck with the move and wishing your gran a quick recovery.

Valm :j Congrats on the new job - a great way to start the new year.

Becky - Have a nice break away.

I have been out getting my hair done this afternoon, so I am all ready for my Christmas night out and into the festive period.

I am now taking a break after wrestling in the gift/storage/xmas cupboard to free my wrapping paper and tags all bought in the 75% off sale in Jan. I am hoping to get most of my wrapping done this weekend. I don't have that much as I have dramatically cut down the amount of people receiving gifts this year (who hasn't?). The only outstanding items are the M & S hampers I ordered the other day at 50% off.

Still no S & G bought and can't see that changing.

No UU - think I might break into a few samples...

    Valm, congrats on the job!

So another UU to report, well less as UU as a gift but it's gone from the stash none-the-less. A BodyShop coconut gift bag, given to a friend as part of her Xmas present. :-)

Other sets shall be leaving in a similar manner over the next week.

Was not tempted by the S&G ootw - but then I'm not fussed by most of the stuff in it. I quite like their body lotion/butter but that's it. However, am tempted by the Philosophy offer in Boots - 3 small presents for friends and then points for me :D will have a look tomorrow/Monday when I next pass Boots and see if the sets look worth giving as gifts and if so I might have to do it. After all, if they're presents they're not for my stash, and it means boots points for the few items to save me spending actual money next time I need something...

    Xxx
  • Great news re new job and house move. If I could choose a time to change jobs it would always be Christmas - you breathe a big sigh of relief when you leave and look forward to a lovely new year of infinite possibilities. Also, how fab to move into a new house in time for Christmas so that you can decorate your new nest!

One UU, which is really a GA. I bought a S&G peaches & clean cleanser in Boots a few weeks ago under the influence of pink fizzy booze served in a plastic thimble by the staff (it was a special shopping event) but it was untouched so decided to make it part of a present for a young carer in the charity appeal at work, along with some Hello Kitty cosmetic bags (the girl for whom I'm buying is 13). So a worthwhile way of shrinking the stash!

I looked at the big S&G set but found it relatively easy to resist because now I've learned to look at stuff and ask, "but will I actually use it?". In this case I wouldn't have bothered with the lip plumper (who can be bothered?), the heel genius (cupboards already overflowing with food treatments) or the hand food (currently maintaining part of the EU hand cream mountain in my bathroom). How different things would have been a year ago!

Having said that, I did have to force myself past the Bobbi Brown counter in House of Fraser today.......

Ladies who love Philosophy, pay attention! I hadn't heard of them until this thread btw :p MrB has an offer online of 1000pts wyb 3 or more selected Philosophy products. However in the Bluewater store they have a very small Philosophy stand, and the Christmas gifts had signs by them stating they were 342. Now not a bad deal. So I picked up 3 of the mini shower gels (in the cute cardboard packaging) at £7 each, total obviously then £14. However, the points offer kicked in too though it wasn't marked in store anywhere!! SO all three in MrB's logic for the princely sum of £4!! Only one is mine btw :p

Bum is now firmly planted on the naughty step - thanks to the above!!!!:o Think you should come and join me Sawan seeing as you led me astray:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I was in Mr B's today and managed very successfully to avoid the S & G even though the staff were really pushing them - but couldn't resist the philosophy. Even though the shelf was bare I couldn't just walk away, I had to check if there were any with an assistant and she found a drawer ful under the display stand:D

    So..........

In's 2 X Snow Angel and 1 X Peppermint Bark ( I do however promise to put at least one in the gift drawer - honest ;))

To counteract the above I do however have a UU - a LHJ too - the Clean on Me is finally gone - yay!!!!!

Grasshopper, you have learnt the secret of the Toiletries thread: there is no point buying something you will not use entirely. You still have some way to go (see Bobbi Brown counter NPI), but your basic training has been completed succesfully. *Performs complicated Toiletries thread salute that involves moves that vaguely look like applying make-up quickly*

Valm I'm hanging my head in shame, but super excited about using it still :o And the shower gels for £4 I just couldn't resist!!

Trudij I went to the Post Office yest and their system was down, so some stamps were old fashioned lick and stick, so he damped them on the sponge thing but they still looked loose, I hope they don't fall off :( Ahh the joys of sending mail!!

I was really impressed by our local PO last week as they have installed a self service machine where you can weigh and stamp your own post. Went back a few days later and it was already out of order!!

Valm, congratulations to your new job. Well done.

LadyMorticia, hope the move goes well.

This will probably be my last post before Christmas since I am going away for just over a week on Monday. I have started to pack today and have already planned what toiletries I am taking with me, most of them will be sample sizes so I should have a few UU's when I am back again. I am already looking forward to next year's thread. I enjoy reading your reviews on products. Being part of this challenge stops me from buying and it has also helped me to realise how long products actually last.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas

Thank you Becky and have a lovely Christmas yourself. xx
Totally not your fault then, xoxo, so you don't need to feel guilty :p

Hope the move goes well LadyMorticia.

Congratulations on the new job VALM!

    Thanks Absinthe Fairty.

xoxo - I'm with AF on this one - don't feel guilty. That's a very nice gift.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I do have an IN of the soap and glory set - but i saved up my points all year and bought it with them so it was technically free which makes me feel better! and i do love the products

I seem to stock up at christmas with s&g and the boots sales then buy nothing for the rest of the year (unless i run out!) took me until the summer to run out of shampoo/conditioner this year! but means in the sales i can buy the salon brands gift sets and makes it cheaper - love trevor sorbie, but just the price and size of the bottle that cant afford all the time!

Sounds like you are allergic to one of the ingredients: have you had a similar reaction to any other products? The fact that the allergen is organic or not will have no effect on the fact that you are allergic. If you can try to pinpoint what it is that's causing the reaction, you can try to avoid it in other products.

If you can't find any ingredients in it that aren't in anything else you are ok with, if it has parfum/perfume/fragrance in it it might be one of the ingredients in that. I had a bad reaction to a tesco "natural" moisturiser once and that's all I can put it down to.
Unfortunately, they have no legal obligation to tell us what their perfume blend actually is so we'll never know the actual culprit!
