my dad's a diabetic, type 1, injects a silly amount of times a day and he eats christmas cake, most things in moderation i think, its a treat not an every day eat, just be sensible i think
Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought but pa has been scared to death by the doctors and seems to think pretty much everything is bad for him.If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!0 -
as a registered dietitian I agree totally with burnham 1 - a small slice of xmas cake is fine, you know it will affect your blood sugar levels but it is xmas after all.
and with regards to 'diabetic' chocolate or any 'diabetic' goods - Diabetes UK do not recommend these products - just have a small amount of ordinary chocolate instead.
I had one of these cakes in my online delivery booked for tomorrow night, just went in to update my basket and the cake mix is no longer available - boo hoo
Does anyone know if it is available in Tesco Express stores as I won't be able to get to my nearest large store until early next week?
I got mine in an Express on Tuesday evening - tucked away on a high shelf with a massive yellow label!0 -

yes I saw some in our local express last night. no where near xmas stuff!!! it was over the back on top of freezers near the bread!!! random!
anyway, I've made 4 christmas cakes ( from my original recipe back in october) I'm so tempted to buy this and make some extra little gifts. has anyone tasted it before? it is any good?? also how long does it take to cook as my normal one takes hours and I'm not sure i have the umph for another long winded cake!!!! thanks and sorry for all the questions but i love the chance to bump up gifts with something that doesn't cost a fortune!!! claire x0 -

The cheapest way of getting small cake tins is to buy tinned Heinz sponge puddings. Ignore instructions and open one end only (as you do most cans) and you'll be able to cook and eat the sponge puddings. Wash the tins and, hey presto, you have small cake tins! !
these are £1 on offer too :-) I used to love the syrup one but not had it for years!!!0 -

Guildford had loads left last night, Cake at £5 and Cupcakes at £2.50
I got one of each as my 20 month old loves making cakes with us. She is a dab hand at mixing but does tend to eat a lot of the mix before it goes in the oven!!0
