I baked them last night and left them cool, then wrapped them.
I iced and marzipan the same day as they were gifts, and as they really small think it will be fine. They look so lovely and very professional. Did you have little tins or what did you use to cook them in? I have read that people have used cans but wondered how they lined them and got the cakes out.
I got small tins from amazon a few weeks back think they were £5 each. I lined them twice just to be safe but just flew out of the tins.
Have read that people have used the Heinz sponge tins, and cannot see why these wont work, just line them well.
These bake so much better than the Sainsbury's one. And smell alot nicer too.0 -
Loads in wisbech yesterday
just got to get some decent tins now0 -
Decided to make it tonight and get more if liked. Won't be out of the oven until 9.30 though.0

I want to make my partners grandparents one each but now decided to make them smaller ones like the photos above, but just tryng to think where i can get small tin from tomorrow or something else i can use. Any ideas?
Also where can you buy celophane from? Thanks.0 -
Hopefully making mine tomorrow or Tuesday. Was going to make this weekend but still recovering from a broken foot and it's been really achy and niggly this weekend, so just 'chilled' out instead -and looking at all the snow outside - by heck it looks cold. :eek:0

You could use these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heinz-Treacle-Sponge-Pudding-300g/dp/B004G90KE2/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324236842&sr=8-1-spell
But just buy the cheapest versions around 50p each at supermarkets and make sure to line them really well.
As for cellophane, we got ours from ebay but if you need it quick then a flower shop may sell you some.0 -

someone mentioned using the tins from Heinz sponge puddings, which seem to be on offer at the moment. I've used beans cans before but obviously they're much smaller but I like the size of the Heinz (sponge pud) ones
Cello available from florists, Hobbycraft & I've seen it in WH Smiths & LIDL recently.
