Hi, after a bit of advice on what I should be posting. I've paid another £30 today off of the catalogue :j, but last weekend we had to get tyres for the car. Not having the cash to pay for it (exhaust also needed and MOT due) it's had to go on one of the cards which takes me to a minus figure.
I don't want to mess up everyone elses figures by posting a minus, but my target is to clear £2000, not simply pay off £2000. Not sure what I should do really.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE! :jTHE PLAN: 1.Pay off debt £8808.42(£3254.45, £1570.32, £2698.33, £0:dance:, £1000, £285.32) 2.Save monthly for Christmas/insurance etc £150 per month 3.Save for emergencies /£1500 4.Save for our B&B £????depends which one takes our fancy0 -
wannabehermit - in my opinion its whatever record you want to keep. I wouldnt worry about the minus figures on the overall challenge after all we are here because of each of our own debt and trying to tackle it. On last years challenge there were people at the end of the year that had hardly (or dare I say ever) reported back so whilst it is nice to know how much debt we are tackling as a group - at the end of the day its our own personal circumstances that are changing0

Wannbae hermit, when I've had that situation I simply don't declare it as part of my debt, but I pay it off as an 'extra' if you see what I mean. So I had £100 to pay off from a hen night that I put on a card, didin't add it to my debt declaration, but didn't count it towards my total of money paid off either.

It's up to you really wannabehermit, it's not a problem.
I've done before as Sarah has - not declared it, and not counted those payments.
Otherwise, you could take the amount spent on tyres off of your amount paid off, or increase your target to £2000 + the tyres.
Whichever you choose to do is fine"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Thank you for your thoughts.
Tyres were £431.40 and with todays payment my total cleared debt has been £430.61. I could call it quits and start from scratch which would be more in line with my 'rules' but they were an essential expense, not as though I've just gone out willy nilly and blown £400, so I could just class them as that and go along with Sarahs suggestion of not counting it and the payments that I make toward it. Hmmm, decisions, decisions!
I'll declare at £430.61/£2000 for now and have a think about it.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE!
