#49 here and feeling a bit sad today
Its pay day, and I feel that the build up to pay day is better than the actual event itself! For the last week I have been saying "oh good, its pay day next week. I can get this/pay that... but in reality i'm as skint as I always am!
I have paid my rent, ordered food shopping (of which I needed A LOT- my cupboards were empty!) and paid my minimum on Capital one, leaving the rest in there for direct debits. (will be a bit touch and go if I have enough for that). I have yet to pay my mobile bill and will have to call them and ask for an extension again! Never mind trying to find money for gas and electric!
I'm just having a whinge really. Its no different from normal and I know I will snap out of it (probably when my food shopping comes and I can eat all the choccie biscuits in one go!). I know that in just 13 more pay days my debt will be clear then I can live the rest of my life enjoying pay day again!
Its not like me to be miserable so apologies for my rant!

michmcc79 - HUGS - its horrible on the 'down' days. I remember a year ago when I had my lightbulb moment - everytime I thought of my huge debt I felt physically sick.
Do you do any surveys or ebaying or anything that might generate some extra pennies? At the moment I am using all the bits from the surveys to pay into my loan. I never used to pay in bits and pieces but watching the people on here I have found that it really does help. Just cashed another £3 on one of them today to be paid into my paypal. Let me know if you need any referrals. x0 -
aww...thanks for the hugs lam2011 - they were needed!
I love ebay, reckon I would sell my Grannies ashes if I thought they'd be worth something! (ha ha, not really, obviously!)
I do have a couple of things I need to put on there even though they are probably only worth 99p, but i don't care how much things sell for because they all add up!
Surveys...I don't like them! Not really the MSE way, I know, but I tried it and they just got on my nerves!! lol. I live my life following tips and tricks from MSE but that is one thingI can't do! You are a better person than me!;)
I am just down in the dumps and I know Iwill snap out of it. I am also having attitude issues with a hormonal pre-teen 11 year old , only another 7 years or so before she snaps out of it...lol.
Pah...I already feel better after having a moan :rotfl:xxCapital One: £[STRIKE]398[/STRIKE] 370 Council Tax: £[STRIKE]1192 [/STRIKE] 225 Rent Arrears: PAID!!!:j Water:£[STRIKE]699[/STRIKE] 539 Kays: PAID!!! :j Vanquis: £450

Little bits and pieces paid in really do add up. I know everyone says it and you get days where you think, pah, this is pointless, but in fact there's a very good reason for doing it. Just the very act of paying off some debt feels good, but it also cements into your mind that that's what you're about at the moment. So next time you are tempted to buy that thing you don't need, or flex the credit card unneccesarily, your multiple-little-payings-off will be there in your mind and hopefully convince you not to do it. Just doing a payment once or twice a month means that you don't think about it in between, it's not in your consciousness.
Works for me, anyway. I do fewer surveys now, but one year managed to get nearly alll my CHristmas presents with amazon vouchers gained through surveys with toluna and valued opinions. I would do them during quiet moments at work, they soon add up too.0 -
Michmcc - I feel the same too. It's true what the others are saying though - if I try and do *something* each day or even each week, however small, I have a better month than if I just do my payments as normal. That little bit of focus makes a big difference, and it does all add up in the end.
Thanks for the updates everyone!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
