Been a bit rubbish in keeping up with threads lately so apologies if I'm not replying to important comments and questions.

    However, currently I stand at:

    £521.67/£4,000

Which means I've now paid off my CC!! First debt of the year done. :D
Just waiting for loan payment and payment to inlaws to come out now!
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...

PPI Party Pooper Debt-free and Proud!
Good luck for tomorrow Jacci and good news your son doesnt need an op. x

Managed a few more pennies off the loan so my final Jan update is :
    £785 / £7,500

It looks like I might be getting my PPI back off one of my loans although dont want to get my hopes up yet. Apparently payment in 28 days but looking at the PPI board that doesnt always happen. Good news was it was nothing serious with my car and so didnt cost bomb either so now I am worried that with the good comes the bad ? :o Such a pessimist (sp?) :o

Last day of Jan though :D

Made a momentous decision last night to start overpaying the mortgage. We still have £3k on credit cards to pay off, as you can see in my sig, but it's down from a high of about £14k, all on 0% and over the past two years I haven't had any problems getting 0% offers on the cards I already have - seems lenders are falling over themselves to give us interest-free debt at the moment! So given that we're on a v good tracker rate at the moment (2.5%) and our mortgage is the lowest it's ever likely to be, I thought we should bite the bullet and funnel some money into it. IT's only a small overpayment of £50 a month, but even that would knock five years off our mortgage if we kept it up! Also my thinking is that when interest rates go up again we can stop overpaying and won't notice the difference for a while (assuming they don't jump up three percentage points or something).

Meanwhile DH has finally managed to come to the end of the month with some money left, for the first time in a long time, so he is going to put the extra £50 in from his account each month (he earns a good £10k more than me so only fair!). Really wish I could have got him on board a few years earlier; we would be debt free by now if I had.

Anyway. THat's my exciting end of jan news!

    Can i join please???

I would like to pay off £5000 this year including loan payments. I wont include interest.

My payments include Next, credit card, loan and parents. I owe £50 to my Mum and i think we owe hubbys Mum £150 still. Would like to get rid of them as even though there is no interest it isn't nice to owe them any money!

So as my loan payment will come out tomorrow i will put myself down as

    £410/£5000

This includes my loan and money paid off in Jan

Motivated to get lots of money paid off this year!
