    Two weeks to payday everybody

3 weeks for me :( lol

No. 103 checking in with an extra £30's paid using ebay sales. So current total stands at £1167/£3566.

Going to take it easy with payments this month while we prepare to move into the place we're buying. We've been incredibly lucky with the kitchen appliances we need thanks to the generosity of others. A work colleague's MIL passed away recently and they've offered me the washing machine, fridge & freezer for free and I managed to get in quick for an oven being offered on freecycle today. Unfortunately they don't know if it's working or not, but it's worth a gamble as it's only costing time and petrol, so fingers x'd.

The electrician is coming to check out the wiring for us tomorrow and the boiler man is coming on Tues... hopefully ebay & facebook sales over the next few days will cover those expenses, but have tucked away a bit of money as a back up. If it's still there at the end of the month I'll be able to take another chunk off the c/card.

I also got my netflix cashback today so with the rest I'd accrued I'll get £45 transferred to my account in the next couple of weeks which will go straight off the card regardless of what happens with the rest.

It's been a long and complicated process as the initial purchase of the property was done by my partners parents as the property was a repossession and had to be a cash buy... now we just have to hope our mortgage goes through ok (it's all approved subject to valuation). None of this would have been possible without the help we've had from them and my dad.

Next challenge is to find a way of convincing BT to not charge us a reconnection fee for moving our service to the new place! :rotfl:

    Morning everyone :)

Big payment from me today new total £7445.30/£17,000

Would have been more if car insurance hadn't been due and a large houshold bill hadn't come in  Still at least its heading in the right direction - be great if i could push it 50% / 8500 by the end of the month but that is a big ask - especially as that would mean paying out more than my income

oooo... a bit of luck. Just after I posted that last bit about the blinds my godmother from America rang to chat and said she wanted to treat us to some home improvement money. So she's going to pay for the blinds! Amazing. So hopefully our debt paying off is back on target...

Well done on the payments everyone, will update on Monday probably, I've got a stinking cold and don't think my brain is working very well :o.

Twiggy - when we moved into our house, the phone had been switched off for a couple of years. BT didn't charge us to reconnect as there was an existing phone line that didn't need any work. If they'd had to do any work or put in a new line they would have done. Fingers crossed, yours is ok.

    DDFW - fab payment :T

Sarah - great news about the blinds, how nice of your Godmother :)

    Hi jwil

How long ago was this? We've moved flats twice already in the last 4 1/2 years and have been charged both times. 1st time we had to have a new line installed which was understandable, but the 2nd time (the flat we're now about to leave), there was an existing line and they only had to 'flick a switch' at the exchange, but still charged us the £120. Crazy money for the work involved!

We got the oven I mentioned from the freecycler today, we were so very lucky. It is completely unused, they hadn't even fitted the bars inside to put the shelves on. We fitted a plug to it to test it and it works perfectly.

The electrician on the other hand is going to cost a lot more than anticipated as there's a lot of work to be done to be sure everything is 100%. We'll scrape through but only if the boiler man doesn't find anything untoward.

Hope you feel better soon x
