Just spent £500 for MOT - now oil leak

I took it back to the mechanic this morning and he had a look - found that a bolt had come loose on the sump and there was a leak from here. :j. So it was very simple and he didn't charge for his time. Also found in the meantime I had overfilled it (as I had seen the oil dripping I think I was being extra careful to make sure it didn't run out of oil but went a bit ott). So they siphoned some oil out. Now all fine. Thanks for your advice everyone.

didnt charge for his time bloody right he shouldnt,you should charge him

Well it was a separate problem that could have begun after the service. Even if not, it was only a small mistake and I'm just relieved that it's nothing serious. I suppose I could have charged him for the oil he got from me.:D.

It works both ways with garages - they probably get fed up of being accused of cheating people when they aren't. I know some of them are, but this one hasn't given me reason to doubt him.

He just said one of the sump bolts.
