Just spent £500 for MOT - now oil leak

    I took it back to the mechanic this morning and he had a look - found that a bolt had come loose on the sump and there was a leak from here. :j. So it was very simple and he didn't charge for his time. Also found in the meantime I had overfilled it (as I had seen the oil dripping I think I was being extra careful to make sure it didn't run out of oil but went a bit ott). So they siphoned some oil out. Now all fine. Thanks for your advice everyone. :)

    Well it was a separate problem that could have begun after the service. Even if not, it was only a small mistake and I'm just relieved that it's nothing serious. I suppose I could have charged him for the oil he got from me.:D.

    It works both ways with garages - they probably get fed up of being accused of cheating people when they aren't. I know some of them are, but this one hasn't given me reason to doubt him.
