power steering fluid is usually red or green dab a cotton bud in the droplets on the floor then inspect it in proper light, could possibly be the powersteering pump hoses have a slight leak?? but if you can rule out the oil youll know wich area to tell the garage to look in obviosly used oil is dark amber to black, so by knowing what fluid is leaking you can get an idea of what to expect.0

OK thanks, I'll have a look tomorrow.0

One solution is a piece of cardboard under the car and just top it up as needed.
On that age of car, it might just be a case of live with it and drive it. A new piece of cardboard is a whole lot cheaper than a new sump etc...0 -

Good idea, thanks. I noticed this morning only a very small patch, and checked the dipstick; oil was low but ok - I put quite a lot in the other day. Could be that whatever it was it has stopped but I won't know for sure until Fri when I'm at home during daylight and can have a proper check. Will try the cardboard then and will also phone the mechanic if it is continuing. I hope it hasn't stopped because run out of oil but there is some still in there.:)0 -
I have had some drips after a service in the past. When they remove the filter it can be a bit messy as oil can be lost as someone has mentioned.
It should be cleaned up, but isn't always that easy.
If it's just mess from the filter it will slow down and stop.0 -
If it's a MK3 Fiesta, I'd keep it on the road too even with the MOT repair costs every year. They are becoming a modern classic and not many around these days.
There is usually one parked up at the end of my street often. Along with an F-reg Maestro which is in showroom condition still.

Just because a car is old doesn't make it a classic. You would need to have one in showroom condition to consider it some sort of classic or to have a collectors value, if there is a market for them yet.
The main reason there aren't too many around these days, is because most of them have died and gone to that great big scrapyard in the sky. :A0 -

You don't see one every day unlike the latest popular finance special. Hence my reply still stands.0 -

There is an endless list of old bangers that you don't see everyday, hence my reply also still stands.
Just because it is old, does not make it a classic and it is certainly no reason to throw money at it to keep it on the road in the hope that one day it will suddenly become a classic.
It is like saying that an item from the pound shop will be an antique in 100 years.
I cannot believe what somebody has done to this classic MK3 fiesta:
