I always drive carefully and give them a wide allowance when overtaking (as per the highway code) but it really annoys me when they go two abreast, travel without adequate lights/reflective safety gear, hop on and off the roads and pavements whenever they feel like it and generally cause confusion! Yes, I know it's a small minority. (I did say it was tongue-in-cheek!) But it seems to me that cyclists are the only ones who can have their cake and eat it. It's not like pedestrians or motor vehicles can decide to take to the roads/mount the pavements whenever they get fed up with the traffic or wish to skip the lights!

I agree wholeheartedly with this, could have written this post and would add that I have seen some cyclist also go through red lights. It peeves me no end at it is so selfish and dangerous!
I voted cyclist (no tongue in cheek though) and although I realise both drivers and pedestrians make mistakes, but my personal experience is that cyclists are the worst.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Statistically, it's cyclists.
A HUGE % of cyclists flout the law when it comes to lights, traffic lights, signalling, riding on the pavement etc...
There are some really bad drivers, but as a %, it's must smaller given the number of cars on the road. I do wish the police would start tackling bad drivers though, rather than this obsession with speed. Speed doesn't kill - bad driving does!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

except you seem to be treating all as exclusive

But it's so hard to choose, especially round here in the countryside. There's the drivers who never, ever give way to anything, drive at 90mph down national speedlimit roads, overtake on blind bends, randomly veer over the line or into hedges and seem to think that cyclists and pedestrians only need a 2cm gap between them and the hedge. Then there's the cyclists who travel in huge groups and block the entire road, don't bother with lights, cycle in the centre of the road, never use their bells, turn without signalling, cycle at night wearing dark clothing (presumably they are in ninja training) and get hopping mad if you dare to overtake them. Then there's the pedestrians who also like to travel in vast road-blocking packs, walk with the traffic instead of facing it, stop for a chat on blind bends, walk down the middle of the road, wear camouflage clothing and get mad at everyone else. TBH the only road users around here who are consistently sensible are on horseback!:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep

no. I would say you get idiots in every group
just today I had to tell a pedestrian to get off the (insert choice phrases) road

just at Mcgrigors
utter madness
I see "ninja" cyclists every day
Im happy to dish it out to them as i see fit
however drivers are probably the worst purley because of the damage they can do
for any cyclist who does road miles then near death moments are usually a daily occurrence.
On the bike I'm higher than most cars and have a greater appreciation of whats going on around me.
however many drivers have little concept of the challenges of cycling
road surfaces, winds(as Edinburgh is suffering right now),cambers etc
poor drivers observation,lane control etc
drivers with no concept of the legality of ASZ cycle zoes (as shown in Lothian road)
etc etc
I 'drive' my bike as a vehicle
I dont want injured nor my (expenive!) bikes damaged
however many drivers seem to take it personally that I take a controlling line for my safety or that I can actually get away from the lights at a turn of speed.0 -
You left out motorbikes!
I walk, cycle and drive.
I am truly horrified at some of the levels of car driving incompetence on the roads, but then having heard some comments from friends / colleagues on some of their knowledge of the highway code I'm not surprised it's dreadful.0 -
Didn't you have a go at another poster this morning because they made a sarcastic comment about DV (and it was clear to me they were joking) in another thread? Don't you think the problem lies with you and your over sensibility?
Do you find jokes about domestic violence funny then? I wasn't the only one to pull him up about that and he apologised.
I guess l'm being over sensitive.... :rotfl:
