As someone who has lost both a best friend and a cousin to bad drivers l find this thread to be sick in the least.

Well done for turning something devastating into a 'funny' thread.

    Happy moneysaving all.

To be fair sassy, I don't think the op was trying to trivialise accidents. But there are threads which blame the cyclist/driver/pedestrian and I think it was just to see which ones most people thought was the worst.

I understand what you're saying but.... it's a ridiculous thread with an offensive name, the OP probably didn't mean to trivialise accidents but that is what is coming across.

Each and every accident is different and no-one comes off better than anyone.

I have cast a tongue-in-cheek vote for cyclists, as the only one of the three who do not stick to either the roads or the pavements. I always drive carefully and give them a wide allowance when overtaking (as per the highway code) but it really annoys me when they go two abreast, travel without adequate lights/reflective safety gear, hop on and off the roads and pavements whenever they feel like it and generally cause confusion! Yes, I know it's a small minority. (I did say it was tongue-in-cheek!) But it seems to me that cyclists are the only ones who can have their cake and eat it. It's not like pedestrians or motor vehicles can decide to take to the roads/mount the pavements whenever they get fed up with the traffic or wish to skip the lights! :p

It's not about accidents at all, I meant the gaming type of deathmatch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathmatch_(gaming)). The reason I made the thread is because I remember a lot of others where people moaned about cyclists and others about drivers and pedestrians so I guess I wanted to quantify it.

I'm sorry you feel that way but if you hadn't been affected personally, would you be offended? I've had friends injured in car accidents before but I don't try to give everyone else guilt trips when they joke about women drivers etc.
  • My main mode of transport is cycling. I see lots of stupid driving, lots of stupid cycling and a fair bit of stupid walking. I guess in that respect they are all as bad as one another, but car drivers are the ones with the potential to do most damage. Even if I did almost cycle into a cyclist who was on the wrong side of the road with no lights and wearing black the other night, that would have caused minor injury compared to a collision with a car. Interestingly, here in Germany even if the cyclist was doing something stupid, the car driver is officially almost always to blame, crime-wise.

Yes l would. You want people to decide who causes the most deaths in real life, nothing to do with gaming.

I don't think the OP was trying to be insensitive.

However sorry I am for your loss, does this mean that we on this board (people who don't know you in RL, and people who know hardly anything about you) are not allowed to talk about what we want to talk about, have to be ultra careful about how we word things for fear of offending you?

Didn't you have a go at another poster this morning because they made a sarcastic comment about DV (and it was clear to me they were joking) in another thread? Don't you think the problem lies with you and your over sensibility?

You saw the title. You read the first post. It must have been clear from that, that the thread was going to upset you, so why not just move on and let the rest of us get on with it?

I think you have misunderstood what this is about, it's nothing at all to do with who causes the most deaths or accidents.

This thread is about who is the most annoying on the road.

There constantly seems to be a thread on here moaning about cyclists, then some cyclists turn up and moan about drivers, then they collectively moan about pedestrians and then pedestrians post about how awful both cyclists and drivers are.
I'd vote cyclists. And i am one!

That being said I think all categories have their fair share of idiots but a far greater number of responsible participants!
