MSE News: Orange to raise monthly mobile costs

I have just been back in touch with Orange Customer Services to chase up a letter confirming that they wouldn't release me from my contract. The person I was speaking to told me that they had just received an internal memo stating that Orange had decided not to rise prices in January now. She wouldn't tell me why and I have no other confirmation of this from another source but she said it was for everyone concerned and not just in relation to my contract.
Anyone else been told this by Orange.0 -

Well, I finally received a call back.
Certainly was not told about any reversal in the price rise, infact the manager I spoke to seemed very sure that the rise was going to happen and went to great lengths to explain the rational behind it all.
But in the end I have been given a discount over both mobile phones which more than counteracts the price rise on my contract. One runs out in Jan 2012 the other in Nov 2012.
So whatever the posters on here have said, this proves that a little pushing and being a bit cheeky actually works! I made it clear I didn't want out of my contract it was more to do with the actual rise and how could Orange help reduce my bill. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

That's the route to take for a fair result.
Those being greedy and looking for an escape loophole will miss out should Orange backtrack in the next few days.0 -

My wife got her text about the increase this evening, just after 6:00pm. I'm not saying you made that up or weren't told that, just saying she got her text this evening saying her bill is going up. Which seems daft considering what they told you.0
