• I'd just like to say that Orange aren't doing themselves any favours here. How many of you who are actually planning on renewing your contract or staying with them once the time comes? All they've done is highlight themselves to their customers as disloyal and, frankly, !!!!ed everyone off; no one likes to feel like they've been had. I'm in a 2 year contract with Orange, which is finishing in April, and this just says to me that I have maintained my end and paid my bill each month and they're rewarding me by increasing my price and, basically, giving me no choice but to pay more. It would have been far less detrimental to their reputation if they'd incorporated the price increase gradually into new and renewing customer contracts.

I suppose the only thing we can do is enjoy that moment where we say 'No Orange, I do not want to renew my contract, surprised?'.
The thing that angers me, is none of us will be able to say all this to someone at Orange that actually matters and cares.

Still in the long run it's their loss. Enjoy your £1.28 a month for 3 months Orange!
• I agree that people aren't going to get out of their contracts and there is little to no point in arguing it with Orange; but the point here is not that extra £1.28 a month, its the way they decided to introduce it. Its just plain insulting to their customers; phone companies pretend to be friendly and helpful but they are actually just businesses who's one and only aim is profit, this whole situation has just highlighted that fact to those who were trying to remain blissfully unaware. There is definitely a better, less detrimental way they could have done this; they haven't done themselves any favours.

Is it a surprise to you that they operate as a business?

Can you tell me any other companies that don't and any that really want to protect their customers over and above making a profit?

Banks? no
Gas and Electric? no
Anyone???.... no

To the previous posters.

As Orange will allow to switch on to their current tariffs which are not increasing in price I would say you are not subject to Material detriment and therefore have no case.

But have fun with it.

PS I really think you are all over reacting way way to much. lol.

I've phoned today. The only way I can keep my monthly payments the same is to halve my minutes. Is this not material detriment?
Quite frankly it's a matter of principal. I've been with Orange for 12 years, a loyal and high paying customer. My contract runs out in 7 months. I will not renew with Orange. I have stayed with them for ease in the past.

is anyone here going to challenge it as an unfair contract term?

What plan are you currently on, how much do you pay and what is your talk plan allowance?

i'm so cheesed off with orange they have been the worse network provider i've ever had... what a FAIL joining them in October 2010. Shame about my 2 year contract but i'm determined to get out of it as i have trouble with reception approx 80% of the time... and receiving their text message stating they're INCREASING their prices makes my blood boil.. cherry on the cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its not the price thats annoying, its the fact they honestly don't give two hoots about their customers or sorting out their shoddy network issues. its ALL about the ££££££££££££££. well they can jog on i'm going to fight this until the end. my mum managed to get out of her contact with them early due to appalling reception so there is hope... ORANGE YOU ARE USELESS!!!!!!!!

if you need to winge to them cut out the call centre people and email the big boss... i have a few times and have received replies: executive.office@orange.co.uk

i will carry on emailing until my issue is sorted !!!!!!!!!!! i'm never normally like this towards a company but orange can seriously go down the drain... rubbish company

I have 2 plans for 2 phones.
The one I've phoned about is £35 for 600 minutes. They offered to put me on a plan for the same price for 300 minutes. My expensive other phone has only 2 months left and can be cancelled soon anyway (before today, I'd have just carried the contract on and got a new handset).
The girl on the phone told me I hardly ever used more than 300 minutes so didn't know why I was complaining. The fact is that at the minute I can use more if I want, and also that I occasionally do. Now it will cost more.

Are you 18 or 24 month contrct?

Panther 35 on 24 month contract is:
600mins
u/l texts
1GB Internet
2 Swapables

£36 per month inc VAT

Dolphin 35 on 18 month contract is:
600mins
u/l texts
250mb Internet

£36 per month inc VAT

you should be able to choose one of those no problem.
